We stayed 5 nights at the Ascot Hotel, it's definitely perfectly located in Copenhagen and close walk from everything which was great. But for the price, that room was sooooo small and the mattress definitely need to be updated. It was so caved in on one side I was basically rolling off the bed. Maybe for 1 or 2 nights but not more.

Ehhh, not a big fan of this hotel, especially for a 4 star. The bed is not that comfortable. The shower leaks all over the floor and they don’t give you a floor mat towel, like I am used to. There is no air conditioning. The sink doesn’t drain well (yes I pushed it in to open the drain fully, the issue is with the drain). The toilet seat slams when you let it go, instead of gently shutting. I mean, I have that at home, how isn’t that in a 4-Star hotel? The „wardrobe“ has the minifridge blocking most of it, when it could simply be moved closer to the wall to afford more space for 2 people staying in the room and hanging their clothes. And oddly, my partner and I realized together at the same time in the morning that, there is no full-size mirror. Additionally, there have been some annoyances that are not really the fault of the hotel or staff, but they’ve just added up with the other issues above—there is construction outside our window from 7am each day and the windows are not airtight so we hear it whether we want to or not. Also, the elevator is tiny and can fit only 4 people or 2 people and luggage, meaning long waits for the elevator. That said, the staff has been really polite, helpful, and we have no complaints there. After having just stayed in multiple 4-star hotels in other countries, it feels like I’m not getting my money‘s worth, especially with breakfast not being included and costing 32€ per person per day. I know it’s more expensive in Copenhagen than other places but for the same price in Vienna a complete and delightful full breakfast buffet was included, with far more comfortable rooms, and all of the above-listed accommodations which are missing here. While it is nice that it is so close to the courthouse (we‘re getting married here) I wouldn’t recommend it for folks coming for that reason.

The staff was very helpful and polite and the location is very central. That is pretty much everything positive there is to say about the hotel. Not a 4 stars in my opinion. The double standard room is very small, you can’t open fully two carryons. Our room faced directly construction work that starts at 7am and continue in the afternoon. Windows are old and not entirely soundproof, that means that you can’t really relax in the morning or for a midday break. While this is not something the hotel can control, I would have appreciated a proactive mention of this and something to make our stay more enjoyable. The shower is a typical Scandinavian type that has no step to prevent water from going all over the bathroom floor. While this is a cultural difference, I think in a 4 stars hotel with international guests at least a rug should be provided.
