Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo

This hotel was a highlight of Tokyo. It was a beautiful, clean, spacious, and luxurious retreat to return to at night. We particularly enjoyed breakfast, the pool, and its location by the Royal Palace and train station. The staff was superb as always.

A very nice and practical stay. The room was clean and well-equipped with a small kitchenette and laundry, which is especially convenient for longer visits. However, the bathroom design—with a clear glass separating the toilet—lacks privacy and could be improved.

We had a disappointing experience at Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo. While the room and location were excellent, the service and cold attitude of the staff were a letdown. Staff were unfriendly and inflexible throughout our stay. They refused to store our luggage temporarily, citing lack of space, and even declined to provide salt for children’s food, stating the restaurant was closed for a private event. The breakfast was the poorest we’ve encountered at any 4/5-star property — very limited options, especially for kids (no pancakes, minimal fruit), and the staff began clearing the buffet before 10 AM. On the second day, they argued over a forgotten breakfast coupon, despite us providing our room number and requesting a simple verification. Overall, the rigid policies and lack of basic hospitality were surprising — especially in Japan, where every other hotel we stayed at was warm, courteous, and accommodating. For a hotel in this category, this was well below expectations.
