Astana Central Hotel

Central (as named) modern, still very good shape after more than 5 years. Comfortable and good service. Very reasonable prices

Very nice rooms, great staff, central location but with very limited amenities.

Nice room, good breakfast, fair price - positive aspects. But: amenities are scarce, and what's more not given enough - only one half used toilet roll for our three nughts! And no one cared to put a spare one. Smae with drinking water - they saw a half full bottle and the other one empty - and substituted just one! As if half full means there is no need for more water, it was actually filled with cooled down boiled water from the kettle, the original water was long gone. When asked for more water as there was only one bottle given, the receptionist said yes, but never brought it. It appears that housekeeping takes home all the amenities designated for the rooms. There was smoking in the hotel going on, even as the claied it was in the designated area (a balcony in the corridor) I was able to smell it it my room in the far end of the corridor (me being pregnant not very happy of course). The staff in general were like a swarm of very sleepy flies, and only on our last day, which was a Monday, when the director or the manager came, they showed some signs of life. They saw I was ill, I caught a cold on our last night in Astana, and charged us some more money to stay in the room till 5 pm. Could have showed mercy and let us just stay, the room was vacant anyway, they told us. Overall, a lot to improve, including the mosquito net that does not stick to the window and the room with 2-4 mosquitos every night.
