The Zafolia Hotel in Athens offers a seamless blend of classic comfort, professional service, and an enviable location just outside the city’s most tourist-heavy zones. Whether you're in town for business, leisure, or a bit of both, Zafolia delivers a relaxing and elegant home base with panoramic views and thoughtful amenities. 🏨 Style and Atmosphere The Zafolia Hotel stands out with its clean, contemporary architecture and inviting interiors. The atmosphere is warm and professional, striking a balance between business-chic and classic hospitality. It doesn't try to compete with boutique trends — instead, it exudes a quiet sophistication that appeals to mature travelers, couples, and conference guests alike. 🛏️ Rooms and Comfort Rooms at Zafolia are spacious, spotless, and well-equipped, with modern furnishings and large windows. Many upper-floor rooms boast incredible views of Mount Lycabettus, especially at sunset. Beds are comfortable, Wi-Fi is reliable, and soundproofing ensures restful nights even though the hotel sits along a busy boulevard. Bathrooms are functional and tidy, with ample hot water, strong water pressure, and quality toiletries. 🌆 Rooftop Pool and Views The rooftop pool and terrace are Zafolia’s crown jewels. Open seasonally, this space offers stunning, open-air views over Athens — including the Acropolis and Mount Lycabettus in the distance. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing or business meetings. While the pool isn’t huge, it’s well-maintained and surrounded by comfortable loungers and a chic ambiance. 🍽️ Dining The hotel restaurant serves a generous and varied breakfast buffet, featuring Greek specialties, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, cheeses, and more. It's a great way to start the day before heading out. The on-site bar and restaurant also provide convenient dining options, though many guests opt to explore the city's incredible food scene just a short taxi or metro ride away. 🚇 Location and Access Zafolia is located in the Ambelokipi district, not directly in the tourist center, but very close. It's well connected via public transport — just a 10-minute walk to the nearest metro station (Ambelokipi or Panormou), which takes you directly to Syntagma, Monastiraki, or the Acropolis in minutes. This slightly off-center location offers peace and convenience, and a more local flavor compared to the busy Plaka or Monastiraki neighborhoods.
After driving and walking across graffiti covered Athens, this hotel was a welcome gem. The staff is very polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet in the morning is very good. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The only thing was it was warm in the room and no matter if you put the thermostat on hot or cold, it always came out hot. I chose to turn it off completely and open the window. They also brought a fan to help cool the room too. Id definitely stay here again if I come back to Athens.
We were there in January and A/C wasn’t on, so it was hot in the room at times. The front desk gave us a fan to use. We had to open the window to stay cool on the evening. We had a glucose crash and had to use a vending machine and the machine wouldn’t work for the Coke choice and I had to resort to purchasing a Sprite. The front desk had no way to assist. There are two twins but together and they dot stay put together and you can fall through the crack easily. This is common for a lot of European hotels though I have found. Breakfast was good. Hotel had a bar and restaurant with limited hours. There was an ATM in the lobby that was quite convenient. They also offered to store unneeded luggage while we were out on our tour because our tour started and ended at this hotel. This was nice perk. I was able to do laundry across the street because I had been on a 8 day tour prior to arriving to Athens and needed clean laundry.
