Atlantic Lux Hotel

Please DO NOT BOOK this property. We stayed the first night at a nearby 4 star hotel and it was great. Went to Medellin and booked this place for our last 2 nights in Cartagena. Arrived around 1020pm to a dark, hot, lobby where the front desk attendant had a lamp on and a fan behind him. It was extremely hot there and started to sweat while waiting for some guests that were buying something from the display at the lobby. We got our keys and went upstairs. Coming in, it gives you a horrible impression and not even close to a 4 star property. The elevator opened on the third floor and everything was dark. The only light came from the elevator. A few seconds after turning on my cell light the sensor turned on the hallway light that stayed on for about 10 seconds and then all dark again. At this point the elevator closed its doors already. Back to the phone light. Found our room and walked in. The best thing in the room was the bathroom. Everything is painted black. Old mini split that did not cool, closet sliding door missing the handles and all scratched up, really bad vibe. Tried the AC for a few minutes and nothing. Went downstairs and advised the attendant of the room conditions and the problem with everything being dark.. Got another room that was supposed to be upgraded, on a higher floor. Same thing.. all dark after getting out of the elevator. The room had cracks on the wall. A piece of cardboard was your mini fridge door. They have rooms out of service and they leave the doors open for those rooms. Looks like a horror movie where someone is going to come out of those rooms. Imagine that and a pitch black hallway. The only thing about the new room was that the AC finally cooled down a litttle after several hours. I booked through Agoda and was trying to get a hold of them but was told I had to wait for a response from their booking partner to cancel. The attendant downstairs told me he couldnt cancel the reservation and had to wait for a response the following day. Now is about midnight and just wanted to take a shower and get some sleep. We had a tour in the morning and went early for breakfast. The breakfast is controlled by two employees who serve food like you are 2 years old and they are running out of food. Even found a small roach around the bread. Went downstairs before leaving for our tour and was told management was not there yet. While on the tour, booked the same property we stayed at the first night. A truly 4 star hotel, just did not have a pool. The other property has attendants and bell staff that welcomes you, you get welcome drinks and have plenty of staff in the air conditioned lobby area. I ended up getting a refund but had all the pictures for a credit card dispute just in case. The place is a dump, old, cracks on the wall. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. The OZ hotels are highly recommened and about the same price.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel, we checked in at night and the night shift clerk had an attitude ,seems he was annoyed by our arrival .When we got up to our room ,we were shocked by how awful the place looked very rundown ,furniture moldy and dusty ,the ac was barely functioning and we saw a cockroach running on the bed (see picture)my wife was screaming and freaking out as i ran to squash the bug. We immediately took our stuff and went back to the front desk when we showed him the picture he didn’t show any concern and not a mere apology whatsoever, he handed us another room key by then it was past midnight and we were very exhausted to start looking for a new accommodation so we just went up. Breakfast was very poor with portion control (very small).Definitely for the price you can do better.

Sorry but for 70EUR per night I expected more. The check in slow and I had to wait untill 3 before I could go into my room. Then when I came to my room the door didnt open, had to go back to reception again. The room itself was ouddated, A/C not power enough. The beakfast was very shitty Everything and the entire hotel is in a bad condition.. dont waste your money here!!
