Atomis Hotel Munich Airport by Mercure

Very pleasant hotel. Perfect for stopping at after we arrived in the evening. Felt like we had arrived in Germany. Food was good...making life easier when travelling with children.

Like probably most travelers, I ended up in this hotel because of a delayed Lufthansa flight, which meant I had to wait for another plane. On the positive side - the rooms are large and spacious, the bathroom is also huge, with a shower and a bathtub to choose from. That's where the positives end. The hotel is old, and the room equipment is old. It is very noisy because of the proximity of the airport. There are no curtains on the windows - at night the room is as bright as during the day. We received dinner, which unfortunately made me sick for the next two days. On the other hand, although Lufthansa also paid for breakfast, we did not get anything because - as the hotel put it - the departure time was too early.

This is easily the worst hotel bed I ever slept in. At least on room 231. I woke up in the middle of the night sweating because I had been engulfed by the mattress. Also my pregnant wife woke up during the night with back pain due to the lack of quality of the mattress and couldn't go back to sleep. Sound insulation might also be an issue. Also the room didn't seem to be vacuumed in a while. We found out a couple of "gifts" left by other guests. During the check-in the receptionist asked me for my credit card which I assumed it was to pay on a terminal, and started to note down my credit card information, without telling me. This seems to be a common procedure of the hotel because other guest went through the same. I will now have to cancel that credit card and pay for a new one because not even god knows how that critical data will be taken care of. Apart from the hotel staff was nice. And the location allows you to be in the airport in 10-15mins by bus for 4,10€.
