Wonderful spa hotel - we had a lovely time here. The spa experience is huge - pools, jacuzzis, Turkish bath, saunas, cold pools, kid's pools - there really is a lot to enjoy, even without booking treatments. The room was spacious and lovely, with a balcony overlooking the water. Breakfast was excellent. I haven't given 5 stars all around because small things were not functional - the rain shower head in our bathroom didn't work, the shower at the indoor spa pool didn't work, at times the Turkish bath wasn't quite hot. Even so, the visit was wonderful, and we'll definitely be back.
I wanted to rest up here and mostly came for the spa after doing the Camino Frances. The main hotel didn't have availability, so they set me up at "Building 2", where it's all families. The plus side is that the rooms are larger, have a small kitchen, and a living area, plus a large balcony. The downside is that the terrace faces the pool/Jacuzzi which can be noisy with kids running around. I didn't mind it too much. Oftentimes I got the sauna, Celtic bath, and cold plunge all to myself, and I used that religiously to tend to my stiff muscles and joints. One thing that would help make it more of a wellness resort is offering free yoga, meditation, Tai chi, classes and other things like that. I also expected more vegetarian/health food for lunch and dinner, since that's advertised on their website. The Potus is quite pricey and didn't seem to offer much to vegetarians. Imagine eating the same thing everyday on vacation at an otherwise nice place. Those would be my two suggestions for feedback to the team. Everything else was great. The breakfast was wonderful as was the staff. They tended to any minor issue that came up right away.
I was hesitating for some months about writing this review or not, but as I’m still upset when thinking of our stay, I decided to write this in order to make peace with what happened. The spa area was great, also for kids. The food was, for Galician standards max. mediocre (breakfast better than dinner), but what was really, really bad was thefact, that we had FLEAS in the ROOM. When we showed pictures of it at the reception, they offered us to change rooms. It was only for the last of three nights, but the new room was a standard double room for a family of 4, with just one 1 double bed and one fold-away-bed… it was tiny, but we did want to stay this last night. The only “compensation” we got for plenty of flea bites, and a lot of worries about taking this fleas home, was, that the we paid only 1 night for the better category and 2 for the normal double room, instead of 2 nights in the better category and 1 in the normal category. I think, that this was a very poor offer, as we still paid a lot for our stay. Nobody said sorry upon check-out either… I’ve travelled a lot, also to countries like Cuba, Vietnam, Indonesia etc., but never ever did I experience something like this. Looking back, it was actually a really bad stay and not worth the money, even though the views and the spa area were nice…
