My personal experience here was great. The staff was extremely helpful and the owner helped us out a lot. They helped store our luggage after check out as we waited for our flight out of Hanoi. The rooms were clean and pretty spacious for Hanoi standards. The location was pretty close to the night market and some landmarks so it was easy to explore.
Sincerely recommend Avanti Central Hotel for clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation in Hanoi. Located in a vibrant and exciting sector, but it was a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. Sophia and her colleagues were charming and helpful.
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS REVIEW FOLKS! The Avani Central Hanoi Hotel (a 4 star hotel) may be running quite the sophisticated scam… let us indulge you with our recent experience. We arrived late in the night after a delayed flight from the reliable national carrier, VietJet (another steer clear). When we turned up to reception there was quite the performance on display, with apologies from a young teenage boy who was sadly informing us that there was a hot water issue in the room we have booked and that we’d soon be transported to another nearby hotel, although still part of the same hotel chain - Ancient Paradise (a 3 star rated hotel). He assured us that room we were getting moved to was actually an ‘upgrade’ as it was the family room. In reality, these kind of hotels are more like a 2 star when compared to western standards. There’s an awful lot of traffic noise at all hours (although expected when staying in Old Quarter district), cleaning staff hovered in the stairwell landing for all of the morning and you can hear them yelling from as early as 6am. The room is dated but somewhat clean and the bathroom is satisfactory. The reception can be alikened to the entry vibe of a hostel and the smell is enough to leave you feeling queezy. When looking at the vacancy for Avani the next morning, they advertise numerous ‘deluxe’ rooms available for as low as $1900 AUD, and were left wondering why we weren’t upgraded to one of these rooms?! We’re sceptical that Avani is overbooking their hotel and moving on hotel patrons like ourselves to their lower standard hotel. No proof - all scepticism at this point. Furthermore, when you are moved on to Ancient Paradise, your original booking with Avani is cancelled on Booking.com (or whatever platform you booked with) so you then can not leave a review to taint the reputation of Avani and warn other hotel seekers of the poor experience. Like or comment on this post if you’ve experienced similar treatment from these folk, we’d just hate for this scam cycle to continue and ruin other traveller’s time in Hanoi
