Awera Resort

Awera is by far the best luxury resort you can find in the Mentawais. Everything about our stay was outstanding. The staff are incredible — special thanks to Courtenay and Mimi, who are amazing surf guides. They always made sure we surfed the best spots for our level and were super open to discussing times and locations based on the conditions. On the boat, we were always treated to cold drinks and fresh food, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Delmi, the chef, truly blew us away — we didn’t expect the food to be so flavorful and creative. The à la carte menu is fantastic, with so much variety that you can eat something new every day. Yoga sessions with Sophie were a wonderful addition to our routine and added a lot of balance to the trip. The cocktails were also excellent, and we loved the sunset snacks offered twice a week — a great touch! One of the most unique features is that every room has its own pool, which adds an extra layer of luxury and privacy. What also makes Awera stand out is that it’s not just a paradise for surfers, they offer plenty of activities for non-surfers too, like SUP, kayaking, massage and more. The management does a great job! For us, this is hands down the best resort in the Mentawais, and we will 100% be coming back.

I spent 8 days in this beautiful place, and I want to give a big shout-out and much love to the entire Awera team. People make the difference, and from the surf crew—Courtney, Claire, Anthony, Harper—to the local team, the captains, Sophie, the chef, and all the kitchen staff, everyone was all smiles, full of genuine warmth, always ready to help, and giving their very best! Add that to the stunning location, top-notch facilities, smooth organization, and incredible food and waves 🌊😋🌞🩵🥰. I truly hope I can come back very soon!

During my 3 day stay I have no complaints. Top quality hospitality from all staff and surf guides. They offer a great variety of food for breakfast lunch and dinner, all of which is fresh and delicious. Logistically very organised and punctual with 2 long surf sessions a day. Surf guides are knowledgeable and professional, offering beginner, intermediate and advanced options to cater for all surfing abilities. The resort is super clean and well maintained with a very relaxing atmosphere. 10/10 would definitely recommend and return for my next mentawai adventure!
