Absolutely love our stay at Hotel Axel in San Sebastián! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Raquel at the reception, who truly made our experience even better. We had arrived earlier than the check-in time, and she kindly arranged for us to store our bags while we explored the city. Later, she checked us in with a warm smile and a genuinely friendly attitude—such a great first impression! The facilities at the hotel are top-notch. The rooftop pool is a highlight, perfect for relaxing while enjoying the sun and panoramic views over the city. There’s also a spa downstairs, which added an extra touch of luxury and tranquility to our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean and offered beautiful views, making it a peaceful retreat after a day of sightseeing. The hotel’s location is excellent—tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but still close enough to walk to all the major attractions, beaches, and restaurants. It felt like a hidden gem in the heart of San Sebastián. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!

Adults-only hotel & very gay-friendly. Loved the vibe. However rooms are too small and need some maintenance and there’s no storage anywhere. The rooftop pool is tiny, better use the one in the spa. Gym is ok. Well priced for San Sebastián.

This hotel is about a 20+ minute walk to the old town, about as far away as you can get and still be in San Sebastián. It’s also targeted to the LGBT community but has signs saying it is hetero-friendly. Didn’t know that beforehand, but it’s no biggie. Our biggest issue was with the room, specifically the bed and shower. The bed was very hard, lumpy, and uncomfortable. Worst sleep we had on our whole trip. And the shower had no temperature control at all—it constantly swung between way too hot and way too cold every 15-30 seconds. The layout was also weird, but if there was a positive, it was the air conditioning.
