This hotel is GORGEOUS! It reminds me of an old castle. The room feels like you’re in your Grandma’s home, or in a Victorian type era. Customer service was excellent for check-in and Karen was very helpful helping me find my way around. The area is nice and it is LA, so just be careful like anywhere else you go. There are lots of restaurants around the hotel b/c its location is in the heart of the city. If you ever need a place to stay, try this hotel! It will make your stay enjoyable.

Walking in the front door, it felt like I had stepped back in time to old Vienna. They had beautiful antique furniture, an incredible wishbone stairway, and lots of artwork. The hallways looked like a museum. It was quiet, comfortable, and clean. They had just closed (permanently) their restaurant, and had breakfast in a small conference room. The atmosphere was that of an empty conference room, but the food was delicious. The best part of the hotel is that it was less expensive than staying at the local motel six. If I get the chance to go back to the area, I will definitely stay there again.

I did not thoroughly enjoy my stay here. I chose this hotel due to the grand views that were shown in the pictures. Upon arrival, when heading to my room, I was greeted with fading carpets, slow rickety elevator, some work holes in the walls in the hallways etc. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the shower pressure was low. The TV was very small, and didn't have a guide menu at all, it was all just scrolling through channels, not to mention it was old enough that hooking up through HDMI spread my computer image past the screen end. The restaurant was in renovations the whole time I was staying there, which sucked because the photos I mentioned previously, the restaurant was a large factor in me choosing this hotel. Aside from all that, there were signs on each floor that said "Ice/vending" or something similar, and I was met with no vending machine after following all of these signs. I then later found out that they had a self-service store instead only on the second floor, and when I went to it, I was met with prices that were ridiculous in comparison to vending machines, which is hard to do ($9 for a normal cherry coke and a pack of peanut m&m's). There is also a *feature* in all the rooms where you need to put one of your keys in to power the room, which I understand for cutting costs, but seems tacky for a 4 star hotel in my opinion. As far as cleanliness, there was a card that was on my bed on arrival, it stated that my bed would be made every day, and to leave the card on the bed if I wanted the linens to be replaced. This was fine and I understand the waste that goes into changing the linens and such every day, but on multiple nights on my stay, there were very clear signs of housekeeping, without my bed being made at all. It was not until I left that card that very clearly stated it would be made anyway, for them to actually make the bed. Along with that, when there were signs of housekeeping (cups and towels replaced and such) there was often trash that wasn't taken out. I also found it a bit tacky that they charge (a ridiculous) parking fee, when they have plenty of parking, and they're not in a high demand area. All in all, there wasn't really any one specific thing that made me dislike my stay, but all of these minor issues made my stay feel more like an indoor Motel 6, than a nice hotel.
