🌿 Ayurvedagram Bali – Beautiful Therapies, But Energy Misalignment at the Core We recently visited Ayurvedagram Bali, spending nearly IDR 7million (~NZD 700) for a range of treatments for my wife and myself. The aim was not just physical wellness — it was emotional and spiritual healing, particularly for my wife, who has been navigating anxiety. Let me begin by saying: 🔹 The therapists were excellent. Gentle, kind, and centered. My own session brought immense relaxation, but largely because I already carry a deep spiritual energy within — the treatment simply gave it space to settle. 🔹 Unfortunately, that spiritual essence was completely missing in the doctor. Her approach was cold, rigid, and hierarchical — a stark contrast to the very spirit of Ayurveda. After my treatment, I was quietly sitting in a verandah enjoying nature, waiting for my wife. I was told I wasn’t allowed to sit there because it was for “inpatient guests.” When I asked the doctor why, she replied: “They may not like seeing unfamiliar faces.” It felt deeply inhuman. No one was around, I was disturbing no one — and ironically, this is a place where I had been invited to bring my child. I now wonder how a child would’ve been treated if this is how calm, conscious adults are addressed. But more importantly: the experience failed my wife. I had informed the staff a day in advance that she suffers from anxiety, and I asked if I could be present with her during the long 4-hour treatment. I was told their protocols do not allow this — and I respected that, placing trust in their divine process. However, during the session: 🔸 My wife began to feel anxious and trapped. The room was closed, with no air circulation, and 26°C felt stifling for someone used to New Zealand’s cooler climate. 🔸 When she asked about air-conditioning, she was told there is none — they can only increase the heat. 🔸 She was also told she couldn’t leave the room until the entire 4-hour process was complete. Imagine coming in to heal anxiety — and being made to feel like you’re locked in a spiritual prison. To her credit, she battled through it. And perhaps the energy I had carried in and shared with her helped stabilize the moment. But that should not have been necessary. She did not come out healed — she came out disappointed, and somewhat burdened by the experience. ⸻ 🧭 Final Reflection: Ayurveda, unlike modern medicine, is not about proving facts — it’s about energy. It’s not “better” or “superior” because of its practices. Its power lies in the spiritual frequency it can unlock in those who seek healing. Unfortunately, that frequency was missing in the doctor. The center — while offering high-quality treatments — seems driven more by protocol than compassion. And here lies the truth: Healing is not what’s applied to the body. Healing is how we are made to feel. The oils may be authentic. The therapists may be gentle. But without human sensitivity, the soul cannot relax — and that makes all the difference. Would I return? Perhaps — but never with someone who is emotionally vulnerable. Ayurvedagram Bali needs to reawaken its own energy before it can claim to heal others.

Ayurvedagram Resort: A Mixed Experience (January 17 - 25) My recent stay at Ayurvedagram Resort was a mix of breathtaking surroundings and disappointing experiences that left much to be desired. Let me start with the positive: the resort itself is absolutely stunning. The lush greenery, serene environment, and peaceful ambiance provide the perfect setting for relaxation and self-care. The yoga classes were the highlight of my stay—I thoroughly enjoyed them and found them both rejuvenating and well-conducted. However, when it comes to the rest of the experience, there are significant areas that need improvement. With regards to the food options the resort primarily offers Balinese and Indian cuisine, which, while authentic, isn’t ideal for international guests seeking a variety of healthy options. There are so many creative and delicious healthy dishes that could be added to the menu to cater to a broader audience. This was a missed opportunity to make the dining experience more inclusive and enjoyable. As for the treatments offered during my stay focused on oil and powder therapies, targeting joint pain and weight loss. While the therapies were decent, they fell short of my expectations—I was hoping for a more comprehensive range of treatments. One major inconvenience was the need to shower after most treatments, and the resort provides only a small kitchen towel to dry off your entire body and hair. I highly recommend bringing your own towel to avoid this frustration. The medication system was another major issue. Prescribed medications were delivered in installments every 2-3 hours, with staff knocking on my door multiple times a day—even when the "Do Not Disturb" button was on. This disrupted any chance of taking a peaceful nap or enjoying uninterrupted downtime in my room. Despite the beautiful setting and wonderful yoga classes, the overall experience left me disappointed. The food options, treatment variety, and constant interruptions significantly impacted my ability to fully relax and enjoy my stay. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend this resort to others. Ayurvedagram has potential, but it needs to address these shortcomings to truly provide a holistic and relaxing wellness retreat for all its guests.
