We had a wonderful time at La Vida Resort. The area is beautiful and we really enjoyed the two restaurants that were about a 20 minute walk from the resort. James is a very attentive host and worked with us to plan excursions . Anytime that we needed something for the bungalow he immediately sent one of his staff to get it to us.
We did not stay here. BUT we reached out to them to help us arrange last minute private trip to Isla Zapatillas. They helped us immensely by putting us in contact with Bubba (boo bah) who is a local and took us all over the place. He was extremely patient with us when we wanted to stay longer at Zapatillas. Highly recommend this place for any trip planning and definitely ask for Bubba!
A Disastrous End to Our Honeymoon – Avoid at All Costs This place was supposed to be the highlight and grand finale of our honeymoon, but it turned out to be an absolute nightmare. Here’s why: The cabin had clearly not been cleaned before our arrival — there was trash in the bathroom from previous guests. The towels left lint everywhere, and the bed sheets were torn. The mosquito net over the bed was ripped, and we were bitten by mosquitoes all night. We found spiders, cockroaches, and even lizards inside the room — including in the bed. The host never showed up to greet us; all communication was via WhatsApp. When we requested someone to come in person, they sent someone who barely spoke Spanish or English and couldn’t help much. Worst of all: it rained that night, and water literally poured onto our bed the whole night. To top it off, there are only two restaurants nearby, both overpriced for the poor quality they offer, and you have to walk 15 minutes through pitch-black darkness to reach them. The only access to the property is via a private boat, which costs a ridiculous $80 each way. The experience was so awful that, even though we had booked two nights, we left after the first. We complained to the host and asked for a refund — he ignored us. He even admitted he wouldn’t refund us because he didn’t have time to book another guest… so he wanted to put someone else in that same unacceptable condition? Outrageous. Charging over $200 a night for a place that doesn’t even protect you from the rain is absurd. This ruined the end of our honeymoon. Save yourself the disappointment — this place is not worth it.
