I’m currently checked into the hotel until Sunday and wanted to share an honest review of my experience so far. First, the staff have been extremely pleasant and accommodating, which I truly appreciate. They’ve been kind and responsive throughout. Just a heads up for anyone booking through a third party: there’s a $125 per night holding fee (refundable), which wasn’t disclosed on the app I used. It caught me off guard, but I moved past it. The first room I was given wasn’t terrible, but the windows were greasy and stained, and the bathroom floor definitely needed some attention. I called the front desk and they were kind enough to move me to another room. I also asked about an upgrade, which ended up being $50 more per night for a balcony room. The room is okay—not amazing—but I’m choosing to make the best of it. The hallways smell really clean and fresh, which is a nice touch. Now for the most disappointing part: I decided to go for a swim around 7:40 PM, only to find out that both pools were already closed. Apparently, they close at sunset and reopen at sunrise. It was still light out, and it would’ve been nice to relax in the pool after a long day. Definitely a letdown. Lastly, parking is $55 per day whether you choose valet or self-park, which feels a bit steep. Overall, I’m going to enjoy the rest of my stay, but I do think there are a few areas that could be improved—especially around transparency and amenities.
The place might look nice in pictures, but the experience did not live up to the hype. The shower in the room was poorly designed, no door at all, so water just runs everywhere. It felt more like a mess than a modern touch. Staff was not very friendly or helpful. No one seemed interested in going out of their way, even for basic stuff. The beach pool was completely overcrowded. If you are going to sell day passes, at least cap them so hotel guests can actually enjoy the space they paid for. Common areas were uncomfortably warm. You would think with what they charge they could spend a little more on proper air conditioning. Also, we were forced to pay $55 for valet parking, even though we checked in and did not move the car until checkout. Hotel guests should at least get a break on that, or better yet, offer self parking. Paying that much just to leave a car sitting there feels like a rip-off. Probably not coming back unless some serious changes are made.
We booked B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale for our anniversary mini getaway, and it turned out to be the biggest disappointment. Thankfully, we didn’t plan to stay on the premises the entire time, because the only moments we enjoyed were when we went out to dinner in town. From the start, the experience was poor—when we arrived, the lady at check-in was too busy on the phone to even acknowledge us. Our room had a dirty shower, the shower gel was empty, and a lamp was broken. At the pool, there were no towels, and when I politely asked the attendant, he looked at me like I was crazy. I wasn’t the only one—another guest had the exact same experience. I went to the front desk to get towels...same reaction...How dear I ask for towels on Sunday afternoon! The next morning, I tried going to the other pool, only to find it closed. So back to the “no towel” pool I went, hoping things would improve—but again, no towels and the same rude response from staff. At checkout, I mentioned all the issues we experienced, but there wasn’t even an apology. The one bright spot was bartender Erica—she was polite, fast, and clearly cared about her guests. The resort itself is in a beautiful location right on the beach, but unfortunately, they do not deserve it. Thank you, B Ocean Resort, for ruining our anniversary trip.
