Baan Lotus

Spent 2 nights at the Baan Lotus Guesthouse in June 2025. Originally booked for 1 night but stayed another as we enjoyed Ayutthaya. The guesthouse is a beautiful traditional Thai building, with a lush garden and pond. It’s in a great location, 10 minute walk from Wat Mahathat and coffee shops, food stalls, restaurants and 7/11s all within a 10 minute walk. You can also rent a bicycle from the guesthouse for 50 baht a day, cheaper than other places and great to get around and see the ruins and temples. What made our stay was the owner. She was the most friendly lady with great stories of travels and spoke very good English. She also was very helpful with advice for exploring locally. We stayed in the basic double room, which was in the building separate from the main house. Room was a good size with a double and single bed, and plenty of room for our bags and to walk around. Fan was powerful to keep the room cool. Shared bathroom was clean. The mattress was very firm, and the sounds from the birds and frogs outside were quite loud so it took some getting used to but managed a great nights sleep. Main gate was locked in the evening and good lock on the room doors so felt very secure. Beautiful pond in the back with lotus’, birds and what I think were fireflies at night! We would definitely recommend Baan Lotus Guesthouse to anyone visiting the area.

I love this place so very very much. It's my favourite place in all of Thailand. The owners are so welcoming. I came in 2018 on honeymoon with my husband, and we had the most magical time. It's a very Thai place to stay, with gleaming teak floors, basic but extremely clean rooms with a choice of fan/ac/shared/private etc. I recently came back with my mum, and it felt like coming home to grandma's house 😭 it's so homely. The lady who runs it is so knowledgeable and welcoming and a beautiful person, plus former academic and so interesting to just talk to. She will even arrange a longtail boat tour for 200 baht to 3 temples in the evening with a night market drop off after... If you are still reading, I saved the best for last...go out to the lotus pond deck at the back at night... stay quiet-ish and you'll be rewarded with fireflies, flying foxes, owls, turtles, monitor lizards, frogs, big fish and the most magical experience ever, all from a comfy hammock or bench on deck above the pond. I spent hours sat in my pajamas with a beer just taking it in. 🙃 Love ❤️

Friendly accommodating and helpful owner. The place is very chill with the nature around, super quiet and peaceful, not for luxury type of course. There might be some mosquito due to the pond area but the room door equipped with net, which must be careful by ourselve to close when go in and out.
