The hotel is mostly nice. The downstairs is very nice and the service is great. The rooms are big and the bathrooms are nice with good water pressure. The beds are big. A few things need to be upgraded like the carpet. The air conditioner didn’t get as cold as I programmed it but I was still at a comfortable temperature.
Urban hotel wears really well its name as you can hear very well the street from your room : cars, trucks, anything you would expect in an urban area ! Bad windows ... so if your sleep is light, don’t forget your earplugs ! The whole room is covered by an old stained carpet that has this typical smell that sometimes comes to your nose ... like this mix of dust. Not great. On a bright note the hotel is well located and rooms are spacious. We didn’t try the pool ! The covid rules are a bit ridiculous for breakfast, you can not help yourself at a buffet. Stayed here to visit Jesuits ruins in Paraguay, perfect day trip!
To the manager who argued this point with me and insulted me by saying he’s too busy to discuss this further, please read this government rule and apply it to visitors politely without being offensive and argumentative. I decided not to stay at this hotel not specifically because of this error on your part but because of your terrible attitude when I tried to explain it, what you did subsequently, when I asked if the original price for the room included taxes you said yes, that when I explained the rule for foreigners, you then changed the price to a higher price which was exactly the same price as you originally gave me with VAT only you tried to trick me by quoting dollars. Outrageous and deliberately deceptive are the only words I can think of to describe that action. Furthermore this should be explained to the other receptionist who kept interrupting to validate your incorrect statements. March 27 24, 1600 hrs After reading other comments I can see this is not the first time this hotel has broken the rules and upset clients. This is not a good image for a supposedly 4 star hotel. Argentina Government rule, As follows: VAT refunds on accommodation International visitors receive a direct and automatic reimbursement of the 21% value added tax (VAT) charged on accommodation in Argentina. VAT on hotel stays and other accommodation will automatically be refunded for international visitors who pay with a foreign credit card or via bank transfer from a foreign bank. The ellimination of VAT on accommodation charges, combined with a favorable exchange rate, make visiting Argentina more affordable. The new VAT rule covers hotel stays and other forms of accommodations, and includes VAT imposed on breakfast services if they are part of the cost of lodging. Other hotel services are excluded and must be billed separately. The rebate system is available to visitors who can prove with a valid passport or identification card that they live abroad, and who pay for their accommodation with a non-Argentine credit card or via bank transfer from another country. The process is completed at the time of billing, with no need for any extra paperwork.
