A rare gem with heartfelt hospitality and unbeatable views I am truly speechless – deeply impressed and simply overjoyed by how beautiful and memorable my stay at this hotel was. Above all, and perhaps surprisingly, what made the greatest impact was the genuine friendliness of the staff and the owner. I was warmly welcomed, supported and advised – always with a smile. A true relief compared to much of what I’ve experienced in hotels across the country over the past few weeks. Not a single five-star hotel I stayed at in China in the past weeks came close to the level of care and warmth I received here at this charming boutique hotel, which officially holds a three-star-plus rating – though it honestly deserves far more. The hotel is in excellent condition, finished to a high standard, and designed in the style of a traditional Chinese inn. The wooden interiors and decorative elements are reminiscent of a refined teahouse – lovingly executed and harmonious in every detail. Yet it offers the consistency and precision of a well-managed hotel. It may be called a guesthouse in style, but it performs like a proper hotel – with all the benefits of both. The bathroom is generously sized and features a large walk-in shower with a rainfall head – something I didn’t even have at the last five-star property I stayed in. Everything is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. There’s a sense of care in the details, and the entire design invites comfort and calm. And then there’s the view – an absolute highlight. From my balcony I looked down into the valley, across the famous rice terraces and out into the green hills and layered mountains beyond. It’s the kind of view that stops you in your tracks. No photo can do it justice. The room itself was spacious, newly fitted out in solid timber and extremely clean. Everything felt fresh and new – as if just renovated. Even details like the electronic “Do Not Disturb” signs were in place, as you’d expect in a higher-class hotel. In-room amenities included a kettle, a selection of teas (no capsule coffee machine – nor was one expected), slippers, safe, toothbrushes, razors, shower cap – everything provided without compromise. The owner also kindly shared advice on local hikes and had a clear and helpful map with five recommended walking routes, tailored to different fitness levels and durations. Perfect for solo exploration. At dinner, the à la carte menu featured a wide variety of Chinese dishes, with vegetarian options such as tofu and egg fried rice available – a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The restaurant staff were lovely – smiling, attentive, and even capable in English, which made communication very easy despite the rural setting. Breakfast is served as a fixed plate rather than buffet or à la carte – toast, egg, fruit, and butter were standard – but it was absolutely fine, and additions like chocolate milk or extra dishes were available at a small extra charge. I gladly paid for mine. Some 5-star hotels in China did not provide chocolate milk at all. I only stayed one night – which is a real pity, because this is the kind of place I could have easily spent 2 or 3 nights relaxing, hiking and simply being. Everything here felt more personal, more welcoming, and more lovingly run than in many grander properties. You feel genuinely looked after. The kindness and attentiveness of the staff, particularly the owner, was without a doubt the best I experienced on this entire trip.

Excellent Hotel! The location is 5min from the parking lot and a short walk from the main drop off point. I stayed at Building A. Room was clean, huge and tastefully decorated. The view of the rice terraces, the valley below and beyond, and the constant sound of the waterfall is simply wonderful! Loved it! It is walking distance from the Ping’an Rice Terrace and we spent a few hours walking on the trails above. The trail is a loop up the hills and to the two main viewing points before looping back to the village and then to the hotel. Finally, Jason is a great host. His English is great and he was very helpful in recommending me a hotel to stay in Guilin. Looking forward to staying there again when I am back in Lonsheng
