We visited for dinner. We made a reservation but it wasn't necessary as it was very quiet. The fish and chips were wonderful. The vegan burger was expensive for what it was. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but for £19 it wasn't anything special or unique. The staff were friendly and nice. Very traditional environment. Nice to sit and have a drink.

Book your breakfast slot when you book the hotel! We were sent an email 3 days before we were due to arrive to ask us when we wanted breakfast and dinner. We responded in less than 24 hours but when we checked in we were told there were no breakfast slots left until 9:30. I asked when they stopped serving breakfast and was told 9:30. This was too late for us anyway so we are now waiting for a refund on our B&B rate. When I complained about this I was told several times that this is an 'Inn', not a 'hotel' so therefore it is to be expected. In my view they are much bigger than many hotels I have stayed in and I have never had this distinction explained to me before. When I compare the rate we paid for other (very good) hotels we stayed in in Scotland, I am very disappointed. You can get far better rooms, service and a good breakfast for the same price elsewhere. Also. the hotel is a little tired and in need of some love and attention. I would not rate more than a 3 star. The person who checked us out just about salvaged the situation by asking how our stay was, sensing it was not up to standard, she apologised and said she would pass the comments through the system. I appreciated that but was still left feeling the stay was not value for money and could have been so much better.

We were told the day before that breakfast would be served at 9:30 AM, but when we arrived on time, we weren’t even seated until 10 AM. The dining area was disorganized and clearly overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the service didn’t improve from there — our food didn’t arrive until 11 AM. That’s an hour and a half of waiting for breakfast, with barely any communication or apology from staff. The delay completely disrupted our plans for the morning. Overall, the service was poor and left us frustrated. A hotel should at least be able to deliver on a simple meal promise — especially when guests are given a specific time. Disappointed and unlikely to return.
