I stayed at this guesthouse on a trip to Cape Town for 8 nights. The room I stayed in was large, had an area to set up a laptop, as well as ensuite with a shower. The outside area was spacious with a pool, and the lounge/Dining area was large. There was also a covered area with couches on the side of the pool, and lounges next to the pool if one wanted direct Sun. There is also a lift should you need it to the lounge/kitchen room floor. Roy was very attentive, and absolutely nothing was a problem. There is a lovely restaurant a quick walk away towards the beach, but really enjoyed the proximity to Bantry Bay and the Waterfront. Every morning, enjoyed a walk either to Camps Bay or to the Waterfront. Definitely will stay here again on a future trip from Australia to Cape Town.
We stayed in the self catering unit for a month, what an absolute pleasure it was. Staff was excellent, apartment was serviced daily and all round a wonderfull stay. Bantry Retreat is an absolute gem. My home away from home. The owner Dr Roy Aronson is a wonderful host always willing to go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay.
The house is very nice with great bedrooms. The pictures of the house on Google are accurate as it is really a nice place. The view however is deceiving from the original pictures, as the view from the Retreat is blocked by big buildings (and construction workers) looking directly at you so you do feel uncomfortable sitting at the pool or with the bedroom doors open. Roy the owner popped in several times a day to “check on us” which was a little invasive, and John the helper was constantly reporting back to Roy about us and what we were doing and always in our midst and thinking that he is part of our company, adding to our personal conversations. It was actually quite uncomfortable having an outsider/stranger think that he was part of our group. Roy also called the one night to shout at my wife , and was actually very rude about “all his neighbours” complaining about the noise that we were making. - we were only having a dinner, with no music or noise at all. It was an interesting experience, one I certainly wouldn’t repeat again.
