Place Cingjing Elegant Meal is good, very humane place, especially the chef. Detailed introduction of the meal.
We were disappointed to stay in the shell of what clearly used to be a bustling and successful resort. Following the closure of the golf course and golf club - due to a political tussle between the national and provincial governments about land development rights - this resort is now cavernous, cold and empty shell of its former self, running on a skeleton staff. Outside the resort are the rotting shells of half finished but abandoned villas. The golf course can be walked but the more pleasurable spots such as the lake are unfortunately strewn with rubbish. Almost all the facilities are closed down - spa, pool, sauna, all but one restaurant - and while the staff are lovely and doing their best, there aren't enough of them and can be difficult to find at times. Western food is only available on the days the relevant chef happens to be working. The kids club is still open but is devoid of any games and has a small pool table which is so unbalanced that the balls roll down the table immediately after being racked. The rooms are comfortable and given how low the occupancy is (there were 12 guests in the 150 room property when we stayed) you may well be offered an upgrade. Unlike the rest of the property, they are kept warm. The resort is quite some distance from Jiuzhaigou and other attractions. There are no restaurants or shops anywhere near by, nor do any delivery services provide service to the area. This would be less of an issue if there were more facilities available to guests. In my view, this resort should no longer be operating under the Banyan Tree brand. It doesn't meet the profile nor expectations which come with the brand. Despite getting a good deal on the room rate, we ended up leaving two nights into our three night stay.
We had very terrible experience at Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou. During the Chinese New Year, my husband and I stayed at Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou. Initially, we booked for two nights but decided to stay only for one night after less than 10 minutes upon arrival. Firstly, upon our arrival by car, there were no staff to guide us, and there were no porters to assist with luggage at the entrance. We had to find the front desk ourselves and ask them to contact other staff for luggage assistance and parking. Secondly, the overall service at the hotel was very unprofessional, as if the staff were not properly trained. No one could speak English. We arrived around 3 p.m. and wanted to have lunch but were told that the kitchen was already closed. They could offer afternoon tea, but it required a one-day advance reservation, which was shocking to me. A five-star resort should be able to provide meals for hungry guests, yet the staff did not offer any proactive solutions. We had to ask what we could do about food, and the hotel replied that they could sell instant noodles. This is completely unacceptable. Thirdly, the entire hotel was very cold with no heating. In the winter, on a mountain with temperatures only a few degrees above freezing, you had to wear thick down jackets. Not only were the public areas cold, but the rooms were also cold. We turned on the underfloor heating and air conditioning but were told that the underfloor heating suddenly broke, and the air conditioning was ineffective. We informed the hotel and the staff said they could provide electric heaters for the room. In the end, we requested two electric heaters for the room, but they didn't help much. After taking a shower, I caught a cold due to the extreme cold. It's very frustrating! Fourthly, the entire hotel had no entertainment facilities, and the spa and swimming pool were all closed, making it extremely boring at the mountaintop. It's not at all like the standard of a resort hotel. Fifthly, the breakfast was extremely perfunctory, with very few options, not even comparable to a four-star level, and there were no fresh hot dishes cooked on-site by the chef. Perhaps because the breakfast area was changed to a Chinese restaurant, the space was very small, but there were many guests, so when we arrived, there were no seats available. When we asked the staff, they asked us to share a table with other guests. This completely subverted my impression of the Banyan Tree brand. The quality of the restaurant was also poor. For dinner, we ordered a classic Sichuan dish, but because it was too sweet, we asked the kitchen to redo it. Unexpectedly, they just rinsed the dish with water and served it again, completely ruining the taste. In the end, we had to ask for a refund. Finally, only one male manager and an employee named Li Mei were smiling, while everyone else seemed very unhappy. The management of Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou really shocked us. The next day, we switched to another brand hotel, which was a completely opposite experience. Therefore, I want to inform everyone, as a consumer that we were disappointed by this brand. As a top-tier resort brand, the management should not be like this!
