Bar Hotel Hakone Kazan

This hotel truly deserves five stars. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff, who immediately offered us drinks, took our bags, and began explaining all the amenities available. They asked thoughtful questions and genuinely cared about our comfort throughout our stay. The food and facilities were unmatched by any other place we stayed at in Japan. The hotel offered a convenient shuttle service to all the major nearby attractions and gave helpful advice on using public transportation. We also rented a private onsen, and to our surprise, it included a bottle of champagne, delicious food and snacks, a cold plunge, a sauna, and a shower—it was an incredible experience. The bartenders were exceptionally talented, crafting some of the most unique and creative drinks I’ve ever tried. I cannot stress enough, this is a must stay for your upcoming trip to Japan!

This is every bit a 5-star hotel. I’ve never seen a view quite like it. The rooms are enormous and beautifully designed. The onsen itself is more than enough and is open almost around the clock. The hotel staff are incredibly thoughtful, attentive, warm and kind. I can’t speak highly enough of the experience. I didn’t realise until I checked in that all cocktails are actually included in the room rate. The food, particularly the dinner, is excellent with an unmatched view. I would definitely visit again. Tip: take the public bus from Odawara station to Horai-en. It’s just a few minutes walk from the bus stop and the landscape is incredible.

Design of room was fine and we liked the concept of the hotel as two adults. Nice spa baths and a sauna (only in morning for men). Service was very average. Some were nice some were not and seems like they can only work in procedures and not by spontaneity, which is difficult in hospitality. On last night we were informed at 22.30 that we can only have breakfast at 10.00 next day as all other slots were booked. Waking up hungry at 7 with a jetlag that can be very frustrating and they don’t seem to understand that. I’d come back but they do need to get an international standard of hospitality
