Barceló Bilbao Nervión

I do not recommend this hotel for business travelers hoping to get things done at the hotel. If wifi speed and stable internet connection are important to you, then Hotel Barcelo Nervion is not for you. Extremely slow and unstable wifi connection in the rooms. I frequently get disconnected in the middle of an online meeting. Another annoying part of staying at Hotel Barcelo Nervion are the slow elevators. You will wait a long time for elevators. The hotel is in a a nice location though. Parking garage door does not open until 7:30 AM. You will need to press the bell everyday if you want to exit the parking garage early so they can open the garage door for you. It could get annoying if you do it everyday. Also, the water temperature in the shower is not consistent — it goes from a nice temperature to very hot or very cold. I see other reviewers say the same.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Service was not existent, no help and none of the things you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The rooms are average at best, really basic and in need of renovating. Sinks clogged. Small and depressing. In the end we paid for a suite to get some more space. Sinks were still clogged and room in need of renovating but much more space. Reception and breakfast buffet is nice and well presented.

I would have expected better from a large international hotel chain like Barceló. While the hotel facilities are nice with an ample lobby .well appointed rooms and good location, the service was sub standard. The chec- in process took almost one hour which is unacceptable. The front desk person said that he had been on the clock for nine hours without a break. We reported a non working safe in the room and they sent someone to fix it when we were preparing to check out. Bring your own drinking water because their policy is only to provide a bottle of water when you first check in and nothing more afterwards. There is a functioning mini fridge in the room but not stocked at all. There is a kettle to prepare tea but no water bottles. I prefer to stay somewhere else next time.
