Barceló Costa Vasca

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is immaculately clean and in a good location very close to the beach. Despite reception being busy when we arrived, and dealing with new computer systems, the staff greeted us warmly and we felt very welcome. There was a selection of complimentary sparkling wine, fresh orange juice, water and some fruit and sweets to sample while you wait which was a lovely touch. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. Breakfast selection was of a great choice and quality. We had live music in the bar while we had a drink before walking into town. There is excellent onsite parking which we used. We also took advantage of the discounted gym and hydro spa access for hotel guests. The gym was incredible. I would happily return to this hotel.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful, staff were helpful, kind and couldn't do any more for us. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar each night too and it was a nice atmosphere with good service! The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The location was good. Although we did spend much of our time in the old part of the town so it was about a 2km walk from there but only 500m from the beach. We didn't use the pool as we were there in December and we didn't use the sports facilities either so can't comment on those. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

The hotel was a bit disorganized. I booked a room for my partner and I anniversary. I booked the additional package element of a bouquet of flowers. I followed up with an email request to have them in the room on arrival with a little handwritten note for which I gave the message text. Received confirmation from the hotel that this was fine. Sent a quick email again the week before arrival just to confirm. They responded that it was all fine. We arrived, checked in, no flowers in the room. I went down see if there had been a problem, and was told there had been some mix up. No apologies given, but that they could rearrange. I arranged to have them in the room later that night when we returned from a meal. Got back to the room, the bouquet was in the room but they forgot the note this time. Quality of the bouquet was also pretty poor and not fit for purpose (romantic). No apologies at any point. Quite dissapointed at execution on this simple task for a 4 star facility. my partner enjoyed the hotel, but this blunder at the beginning soured the whole experience for me. The stay itself was fine. The location is a 10 minute walk to a beach, but was probably a bit too far away from local convenience (shops, bars). Felt a bit isolated.
