Barceló Fortina Malta

What an amazing stay from the moment we walked through the door the staff were so welcoming and very friendly. Our room had a partial sea view and a good sized balcony. The bed way very large and comfortable. The facilities and attention to detail in the room were great and a turn down service each night was a lovely touch. The pool area overlooking the harbour had spectacular views.

All the staff were lovely. Food was great. Room lovely. We had a room at the front with great view to Valetta. Half the rooms don't have this though. And didn't like the music played at the pool, (thumping euro bad house techno), too loud for daytime. So as long as you're not after a quiet poolside stay it's great.

The hotel overall was lovely - very clean and the staff were very helpful. There were a few issues in that the floor is the bathroom kept flooding with water from the bidet and the TV kept losing connection. Also there were times when the room had been cleaned but items weren't replaced e g towels, coffee & water. Breakfast was very nice. The pool was brilliant and the view was amazing looking over at Valleta. The only issue was that music played constantly and on some days it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself speak. Food at the pool area was delicious. As for Sliema - a great location for first time visitors as it had travel connections to so many places. Otherwise quite limited with mainly restaurants and shops you get in London e.g. M&S, Next, Marilyn, Zara & Accessorise. Only stuff selling Maltese merchandise tended to be tourist shops with a load of rubbish. Would recommend however as great for first visit to Malta.
