Hotel Bay View, Visakhapatnam Perched right on YMCA Beach, adjacent to the iconic Submarine Museum, this hotel boasts one of the best locations in Vizag . It's especially revered for its sea-facing rooms, offering a truly breathtaking ocean view—the hotel’s principal selling point, and the reason many are willing to pay the steep rate of ₹5–6 k per night (including tax) for two guests. Though this property is dated and offers only basic amenities, it ensures a non-smoking environment across its rooms . However, maintenance appears to lag, with guests and yourself noting concerns such as dirty curtains, worn linens, broken bathroom fittings, and even an unsettling netting in the room corner—suggesting that management may rely on the unbeatable location to draw customers. Breakfast buffet options are quite limited, and become scattered if you arrive after 9 am, meaning late risers may miss out. This is one of those hotels which lies in the gray area. Rooms are decent but most of them have one glaring issue. The bathroom doors. They all have a locking issue or door hinge issue. When I complained to the reception I was met with “All the bathroom you will find similar”. The location is amazing, right in front of the beach. No doubt this would have been an amazing hotel in the past, but desperately needs some tweaks and renovations here and there. Don’t get me started on the service. No doubt your issue will be resolved but you’ll have to take multiple follow ups in the process.

Dirty rooms, smelly washroom, smelly dining area, stained and old linen, dirty stained upholstry, poor dining spread, tardy service. Claims to be 3-star, not worth even a single star. MMT also puts it under 3-star category - I wonder why? I booked for 3 nights, expecting it to be good, looking at MMT rating. At first look it was clear that the place was not woth it. I asked for cancellation - too late for a refund - had to lump it. Room alloted on first day stank. Got it changed. First floor washrooms open onto the dining area and the hotel staff uses these washrooms. So there's always a foul smell in the dining area. The staff looks like they've just been rudely awakened from a deep sleep. There's no table layout - the staff does not know how to lay the cutlery - 3-star? You can take tea from a large steel kettle, with a tap at the bottom, of the type you see in dormitories. The kettle had not been cleaned for many days and the tap kept getting clogged. All vegetables and non-veg are made from same gravy - so same spicy taste in everything. I asked for non-spicy - had to have roti with curd. On second day, I pulled the prawns out of the gravy to have. Bed sheets, towels, chair cushions were stained so badly I was uncomfortable using them. The tea cups in the room were not cleaned by the housekeeping staff, when i came back on the following day. Location may be good - but that's useless if you dont get sea-view in Bay View Hotel. I remarked about this to the manager. "ITC Kohinoor mai Kohinoor milega kya?", was the rude reply. Overall, a horrible experience.
