Beijing Hua Yao Hai Fu Business Hotel

We stayed in this hotel last summer. The location is very convenient. It’s actually a private residence of a postal official in late Qing Dynasty. We loved the classic Chinese decorations and styles. A quiet morning stroll in the garden was very peaceful and satisfying. The rooms are on the small side, but the rest of the hotel makes up for it and still makes this a very unique hotel to experience Beijing.

We stayed there twice in June 2013 bookending 5 days of walking the Great Wall. Each time the rooms were clean and tidy. The bathrooms were clean also and everything worked well. The hotel was located really close to a subway station and we were able to get to wherever we wanted easily by walking or train. We were also within walking distance of the Lakes District which is a popular spot for food, nightclubs, etc. The breakfast provided for our stay was buffet style with a large range of cooked dishes available. There was a limited range of cereals. Service was excellent and the counter staff spoke sufficient English to help us whenever we wanted help. The exchange rate provided by the hotel was great and without a fee. We were able to exchange our AUD to Yuan there better than anywhere else. I would recommend there to anyone looking for a place to stay in Beijing.

The hotel is fine in general aspects but lacking in some details that make it not so good, truly deserved 3 starts. Chinese guests book these hotel and are quite noisy, the complaint is sent to the hotel reception and nothing is fixed. The room I booked lacked of minifridge. The WiFi connection has a poor signal. The entrance and the street where this hotel is allocated look quite awful, like if it was damaged long time ago and nobody cares. The hotel is made of good quality stone, unfortunately, this create a strong echo in the corridor, and when anyone speaks you can hear it inside your room. The bed is really hard to sleep over, the mattress was like a stone. Apart from all of this, everything else was fine.
