Belle Isle Sur Risle Chateau Hotel & Spa

A beautiful slice of history. This charming old chateau is built on a small island in the river Risle. It was lavishly furnished as a chateau in the early 1900s and retains the grandeur of those days with the beautiful rooms, paintings and the grand piano. The restaurant is wonderful and takes French gourmet very seriously, including an excellent introduction to gastronomy for children. I had a flight of tasting wines with the menu. Canoes are available for hire to go around the island. Bikes are also available. There is a large outdoor pool and a smaller warmer indoor one. Staff are very friendly and spoke excellent English and catered well for gluten free.

What was a bad start of our trip became so good when we arrived. We had car trouble on our way to this Beautifull Chateau, Hotel and Spa. We ordered the half pension. So we stayed in close contact with the Belle Isle sur Risle on our arrival time for the diner which we would still really like to eat. We arrived at 22:00 and were greeted by the owner and staff who very kindly received us and made sure our arrival was relaxed after a false start. We informed them that we were with a pregnant lady (31 weeks) and they fully deviated from their set menu to accomodate her dietary needs! No red meats/raw or unpasturized foods. When i got my cheeses so got a complementary pear salad and so on! Which was super super nice to feel seen and heard in what is a stressfull time with foods when you are pregnant. (on friday nights there is live piano music!!) After the late diner we got guided to our room, which was upgraded due to the happy pregancy by Belle Isle sur Risle! Which was very kind! And very welcome. The room was very room, big and had a view on the beautifull island on which the Chateau is situated. Thanks for that! The next morning we enjoyed a lovely and extensive breakfast, bacon, cheeses, meats, scrambled or boiled eggs. Very very delicious croissants and pain au chocolats! Highly recommended. Take your stay WITH the breakfast. We really loved it. Everyday the owner or staff did a friendly check up with us how the foods and stay was with the pregnancy. We spend most of our time downstairs in the Spa/swimmingpoo/hot tub area. where we layed down in the water with a small waterfall and nice massage jets. Or in the nice wooden "fallback" chairs. in which you can very comfortably read when laying flat. Unfortunately our stay was only 3 night before we travelled further. A longer stay would have been very nice. 5 stars for the service, staff, kindness and helpfullness in our situation. Might be back with our baby girl next year. Thanks!

I just spent 10 days here with some work colleagues and I the kindness, professionalism, and dedication of the staff is incredible. We were treated like close friends for our entire stay and on multiple occasions the staff did things to make our trip unique and I cannot stress enough how much we appreciated them and how they made this trip so special. The property is gorgeous and the grounds are well maintained. It is quiet and peaceful and the food is absolutely amazing! You must try everything! Very much enjoyed my stay and will absolutely be back.
