Best Western Arcachon Le Port

This hotel deserves higher than a 3* rating! We arrived earlier than expected and asked could we park our Cark whilst we went for a walk. The lovely receptionist informed us our rooms were ready so we could check in straight away - 3 hours early!!!! That was very much appreciated. The rooms were spotlessly clean, a great size. Very comfortable beds, and the showers are simply great. Breakfast was delicious and well worth paying for, I highly recommend you do that! The roof terrace is great and worth going up there to relax. Finally, the entire staff at this hotel were a very friendly team for sure, and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much for taking care of us, we will definitely return!

The name has now changed to Best Western - Arcachon Port. That confused me at first. I booked a last minute, quick trip to Arcachon because I was missing the beach. This place is such a great value, I found a low price and booked. Because of the price, I was nervous, but I had no need to be. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I think I was upgraded to a slightly larger room so size wasn’t an issue for me. I was on the ground floor so a bit nervous about facing the parking lot, the curtains were a bit thin. But they have blackout blinds so I closed those and felt so much better. Staff was all very friendly and they spoke English (I can speak some French but it was nice). The rooftop view is pretty. The location - it’s about 7-10 minutes from the train station on foot, and the walk is pleasant. It’s in a very quiet residential area with beautiful houses. I don’t mind walking, and found it easy to get to the beach - about 10 minutes or so, there’s a cute little boardwalk. Maybe 15 minutes or so to the city center, the pier, even more restaurants, etc. I didn’t try the breakfast to comment on it.

When we got to our room, the extra bed was not setup, a duvet cover was missing for the duvet and a towel was missing. There was also visible dust and hair in the bathroom and besides the bed, we kindly asked them to fix it. When we got back from the beach, they told as they had cleaned our room again, but when we got to the room there was still dust and hair in the bathroom. Our keycard somehow stopped working, so we couldn't access the parking, nor the hotel. The staff claimed it could happen if the card was close to my phone. I find that very hard to believe, it has never happened at any other hotel previously. If this is a known problem, all guests should be informed about it. We got a small refund for our troubles. The bed was quite hard. The so called lounge area at the rooftop is very small. Not a place you would hang out at. The room is nice, but the overall experience was bad. I can't recommend this hotel. A clean room and a working keycard are two of the most basic things at a hotel, and best western failed both
