I am staying here for 3 nights for work and unfortunately, my experience was pretty mixed. The not-so-great: The hotel is very outdated and in need of renovations. I had no hot water for the entire stay, which was really frustrating. The Wi-Fi kept dropping out, making it hard to get anything done. The room had a strange smell and the toilet had no exhaust fan, so there was a constant unpleasant odor from the bathroom. The plumbing also made loud noises whenever the taps were used. On top of that, the restaurant prices were quite expensive. The positives: The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food itself was actually very tasty. The bed was super comfy and the heater in the room was nice even though it was loud. Overall, the service and food were solid, but the outdated facilities and maintenance issues really let the place down. With some upgrades, it could be a much better experience.
We recently stayed at the Lord Forest hotel for two nights. The room was clean, a little dated and the balcony offered a view of a dirty rooftop of the building adjacent. The ambience inside the hotel lobby was unique with vines growing from each level creating a tropical oasis atmosphere that was inviting and peaceful. The pool in the centre of the hotel lobby seemed an odd placement but seemed fairly utilised by other patrons. The buffet breakfast was average but I feel standard for a western hotel offering the usual and traditional hot food selections. The restaurant served quality meals in the evening which were very pricey considering the several other options within walking distance of the hotel. We opted for the steak which was cooked well and delicious as well as the salmon - which was also enjoyable but nothing to entice a return visit. Customer service unfortunately was sub par and the hotel should work more of promoting their brand through training their staff to have good customer relations with their patrons.
Good location. Is in the centre of town. Poor service. - partner had a blood nose (chronic nose bleeder) and we went to inform someone to get some room service, they said they would come back to help, didn’t show. We ended up leaving at 11pm because no towels no cleaners to help us with the blood. It was just on a pillow but we just didn’t want it to sit there and ruin the pillow. - sign was left on door all day advising we wanted cleaning. We left for most of the day and night anyways so room was barely occupied. - if we had have gotten cleaning services, or even just a call to our room when we were in there or a knock on the door if it appeared we were in the room, would have been fine but we just tried to stay out of the hotel room as much as possible to give them time and it wasn’t attended to. Good room. Nice and clean on arrival. Pretty and cute. Nice lobby. Sad no pool. Was told it would be finished before we would stay but stuff does happen so understandable.
