Its best asset is closeness to the theatre and restaurants, though some of the restaurants need to lift their game (the Thai place is good). The bed and bedclothes are comfortable. The room setup is the usual type, bathroom on the side as you enter, storage, fridge and kettle on the other side. The place is showing its age, however, in the bathroom, particularly the shower. While the toilet seat is a replacement related mismatch, there is no mistaking this was built when most of the population was much shorter. At 188cm, I was tall for my age but that isn't overly tall now, and the shower head is great for wetting my neck, not so useful for anything above that. Washing hair involves much stooping. Another thing which irks me is paying extra for parking, $10. Once upon a time, it was included simply because most people would drive to a hotel. Not anymore. In summary, if there was something else,bI would use it instead. It isn't that bad, but doesn't impress either except for the amenable staff.
Price: King bed room was slightly pricey Size: not bad for this room type Bathroom: putting the shower in a slippery bathtub is an OHS disaster. Ensure you use the supplied handrail at all times. View: great view of Launceston from upper stories. Proximity to CBD: good Laundry: has self service washer and drier that worked okay, though my jumper is a different colour now. Flair: none, a run of the mill hotel that runs to the tried formula. Climate control: seems to have central heating. I didn't need blankets despite it being cold outside. Had a/c too. Cleanliness: not bad. Refurb has saved it from appearing run down. Can request daily housekeeping. Parking: free of cost and mostly available. You need a permit from reception.
Comfortable beds, friendly staff. No hot water, very limited parking available, no face washers, close to empty shower soap dispensers in a run down bathroom with taps that badly need fixing or replacing and by no means the hotels fault but the mother leaving her kids to play in the hallway outside other guest rooms way before check out certainly didn't help. I've stayed in far better accommodation in Launceston for around $100 less per night.
