Big Five Motel

Build for comfort. This motel is great. The room is clean and well-maintained. Jenny the manageress is so friendly and helpful towards us. My son and I had a small dog with us and we felt welcome by the management. The location is quite strategic and close to many amenities. Just a few hundred metres from many good Cafés, petrol stations, the Plaza, Pak n' Save, and the University. The room is warm and fully equipped for us to have light cooking. Whenever we are back in Palmerston, we certainly will stay at the Big Five Motel.

Our stay at The Big Five Motel was fantastic. The room was clean and comfy, the staff were super helpful and friendly, and the location was excellent next to the Park. This was a big plus considering they are pet-friendly and we had our dog with us. A great stay that we thoroughly recommend

The location and the fact that the property supposedly allowed pets, convenience factor. The bed was fairly comfortable and shower had good pressure, but these were the only redeeming aspects really. The room was absolutely tiny, no bigger than a bedroom. For the price we paid ($170 per night), I would have expected a much larger space. We stated we had our dog with us, so we were supposedly put in a "larger room to accommodate." The carpet had several stains, and it had a doggie smell to the room when we arrived. The owner was also abrupt and rude during our stay. We were already very disappointed on arrival, but this interaction sealed the deal!. It was a sardine-can, none of the extra comforts shown in the photos were present, there was no compendium in the room, the tv barely worked (only a few basic channels works despite claiming to have 11 Sky channels). Nothing about this place justified the price. We've stayed in much larger rooms elsewhere with much better facilities and service for a lot less per night. This place was a shambles in comparison.
