The hotel doesn't live up to its 4 stars or its high price tag. For my money, I was provided a bed and a mural. I spent all day considering why I was so disappointed and arrived at the conclusion that the Bisbee Grand Hotel offers nothing of value to its guests, at least relative to the other hotels in the area. The room was small, similar to a Comfort Inn suite, having only a bed, a dresser, and a few tables. The furnishings were simple and practical, not contributing to the theme of the room. It seemed like the objective should have been an experience, like I should have been immersed in the setting, but it just felt empty. There is no a/c unit, but there's a window above the door that opens to the lobby. Having an open window in such a private place created a terrible feeling of exposure while trying to sleep on the harshly rigid mattress. The only positives that come to mind reflecting on the hotel is the novelty of lodging above a bar and it's central location in the town. The worst part is that I feel like I was robbed of what should have been a very cool experience in a charming, scenic town. Asking around, there are far more interesting, far less expensive hotels in the area that offer better experiences. The staff were friendly, which is something.
For for our suite it was 260 for the night. I have to say it was highly disappointing. We were not expecting everything to be perfect, but we did think it would be an upscale room in a quaint little town that would kind of give you the memory of yesteryear. Well the fact that the hot water heater wouldn't even fill the tub and it's a hot water heater. Just for the room. Electrical outlets didn't have covers dirty carpet, dirty walls and not a blanket on the bed when it was 30° outside. No way would I recommend this place unless they step up their game. It wouldn't take much. Just a little TLC. Maybe a larger hot water heater or turn the hot water up on it and let people know it's a single hot water heater for your room. And let me not forget if you're staying on the night that the band is playing in the bar below. Don't plan on going to sleep until after 2:00 because you will hear it just like you're standing right in front of the band. A little layer of insulation would go a long way to make this into the hotel that they're trying to present it as. 3/31/25 no response from the owners which further shows how much they care.
My experience start to finish: You get to the hotel, and you have to go into the bar to get your room key. A bartender walks you to your room. You leave the bar and go outside, and walk down the street to a different door that you need to unlock with one of the keys the bartender gave you. No elevator, so you drag your bags up the stairs to the upper floor, which, when we got there, had a bunch of random teenagers wandering around nearly blocking our door. I guess they had a photoshoot or something? You use a physical key to open the door, but the lock is sticky, and so is the door. Twist the key and kick the base of the door to get it open. In the room, there is simply a bed and a small TV, maybe 24in. No microwave, no mini fridge. The bathroom has an old wood door and a 4in step-up. The room smells like new paint because they've just painted a new mural inside. You go to open the window, only to see your neighbors windows. There is no view, and keeping your curtains open is just inviting a peep show. There is no A.C. controls for the individual rooms, so you're at the mercy of the hotel manager. Thankfully we had a cool night. There is a smaller window above your door that leads into the hallway. We considered opening it for airflow, but it does face the bed, so if anyone walking by could have an opportunity to peek in on you. And worse, you'd hear every single conversation happening in the hall. On the desk by the bathroom is a little tray with a pitcher and two glasses. If you want ice, you need to grab the pitcher, key-lock your door, go downstairs, out to the street, and walk down to the bar for ice. On this same tray were two pairs of earplugs. The room is right above the bar, which frequently has live music late into the night. We got lucky, the band had canceled. There is no phone in the room, if you need room service you have to, you guessed it, walk down to the bar, or call the phone number with your own cell phone. There is no assigned parking, so make sure your bags have wheels. You might have to walk a while. No luggage carts, as there is no elevator. Most of the shops in town close at 5pm or 6pm, all that is open after that is the bars. All this for $150 per night. So, unless you just REALLY like historic buildings, I'd call this one a pass. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that would be a better choice.
