An average hotel. The location is USP. Just next to railway station and bus station. The room was clean, but the mattress is below par. Rather thin mattress, low comfort. There is no wardrobe in the room, no kettle for warming water. Bfast is average, with limited items, but food quality is good. Staff is courteous and helpful. They can do well to have more than one person at reception, esp at peak hours, to shorten the wait time. Overall low value for the price!
We chose this hotel since my daughter has the Ibis discount card for the year. The location at the Hauptbahnhof is terrific for the day trips we took, and it was very easy to take a bus or a team anywhere in the region (using the wonderful Innsbruck Card). The €18 per person for the breakfast was silly, so we opted out and got breakfast at either Cafe Mundling or Breakfast Club nearby. The maid was very nice and efficient and kept our room very clean. The front desk staff were unusually apathetic for an Ibis, and the "free tea" was always out of hot water or black tea. In retrospect perhaps we should have forgone the Ibis card and found a more charming location closer to the Altstadt, but we slept well and when we left, it was nice to basically roll out of bed and straight into the station!
I arrived by car. The hotel would have been easy to find, as it is next to Innsbruck’s train station, but no signage at all where to unload your luggage or where to park… So I drove into the stations parking. Very expensive. Don’t go there. The hotel’s parking is shared with Motel One. And you don’t get to know that until the lady at the check in tells you. The hotel charges 20€ a day for parking. You only get 24hr tickets at the hotel. If you pay at the machine down in this very garage, it is cheaper in any case, as the machine charges you by the hour with max. 19€ per day… I don’t get it Ibis… Rip off. Once you want to get into the hotel by foot, you’re greeted with a dirty and unpleasant entrance that has an escalator up, but not down? Oh and yeah, no signage whatsoever. You only assume this has to be the way in because there is an Ibis sign al the way up at the building top. When you get up the escalator the first and only thing you see is the entrance to the offices located in the same building. The entrance to the hotel is then to the left. At least the lady at reception was friendly. Not overly nice. But okay. Now that you’ve finally made it to your stay, a 150€/night will get you: - a really smalll room with a disgusting, worn and stained carpet - a tiny bathroom with mold and grouts so disgusting they must come directly from hell… dirty walls and something? smeared on the ceiling I didn’t even want to know what it was. - vent in the bathroom blocked with dust - no toiletteries. at least a liquid soap dispenser - no coffee machine, no bottled water, not even a kettle. Go get your coffee for 4€ down at reception. (cheaper and better at the station ;) ) - Your choice of a warm stuffy room or a very loud vent. Or the noisy surroundings and smells of the train station when you open the windows - No closed cupboard, hooks on the wall must do - Nowhere to put your luggage - One(!) power outlet in the whole room. Yep, no power outlet at the (tiny) “desk”. The desk could barely allow room for my 14” laptop…. - Shaking walls anytime anyone on the floor neighbours close their doors - Noise of the elevator all the time - Only one elevator, so you better not be in a hurry - No breakfast unless you pay extra for that. I didn’t try it ;) Hint, the local bakery is really good and for the price the hotel charges for breakfast, you will eat like a king over there - Reception staff at check out not asking nor interested to hear if your stay was ok (well, guess they know?) + The sheets and towels were not dirty. literally the only positive thing and the only reason I didn’t leave straight away. I was tired after driving the whole day. Haven’t been ripped of like that in a long time. Even for 60€ a night this would have been shameful for you, Ibis. But I paid 150€ for that. Atrocious.
