Blaumar Hotel Blanes

Sea is close, you'll have a good holiday overall. Reception staff needs to improve. Restaurant staff and cleaners are doing great job. For 4 stars beds should be better and kettle and fridge included.

Do not recommend this hotel at all. The good thing is the proximity to the beach. I have arrived at the hotel at 6 am with my family (young kids) and found no employees at front desk personnel till 8 am, not 24 hrs front desk as they say on their website. Check out is at 10:30 am which is something I have never seen before. They'll add taxes on top of the taxes paid, they'll ask for extra money to use the safe in the rooms, although it is stated on their own website it is included in amenities. No fridge, you'll have to pay extra per day for the fridge. Very very slow elevators that will close on your arm or leg whilst you exit or enter. Very rude personnel at the front desk, they'll smile and make jokes just to get past things. Room service and maintenance are good by the way. Don't recommend this hotel at all. They'll talk to you in Spanish at the front desk as I don't speak Spanish infront of me, telling you that all this didn't happen. That's why I have posted the receipts. They didn't even know what I have paid for or didn't. I won't be the judge, you make a booking and see for yourself. Can't imagine how that's a 4 star hotel. And well you can read through other reviews carefully before making a reservation to be sure I am telling the truth.

Be warned. Where do I even start. The good: The location as with all the other hotels in the area, it is close to the beach. There is a restaurant for full board customers. There is a swimming pool. The cons: The rooms are small. There is security issue. So be warned with all your belongings. You can leave your suitcase in their key card operated luggage store room. But their card can be easily obtained in the reception area and anyone passing by can easily swipe it and help themselves (we learnt the hard way). There are no security cameras in their store room. Apparently there are security camera's only on the way out, but if your belongings are stolen, the manager will tell you to go to the police station to file a case before they can release footage. They will not be responsible for the lost of your suitcase/luggage because they don't have knowledge who they give the key cards to. They don't have inventory of who is going in and out and they do not have receipts of how many suitcases you leave in their luggage room because it is your responsibility, you the owner left them there. So you might as well do not leave your suitcase/luggage while you wander around the streets of Blanes because it will be pointless, hoping that your they are are in a safe holding place. If you ask them to help with the insurance purposes if the item was lost while it is in their building, they will say no because it is not their responsibility. I hope you are getting to understand what I am trying to say here. And if you go to the police station to file a claim, it is an online form and it will take some time for the investigation to happen and who knows what happened to the lost or stolen property you were trying to recover. Unless you speak Spanish/Catalan or if you get lucky, an interpreter can be available from Wales. The police station staff were very helpful. It may be that the hotel is not responsible for safe keeping of your belongings when you entrust that their keycard access only is enough as security, but be warned. If I ever go back to blanes. I will try and find other hotels to stay. One last thing, if you are looking for a drinking fountain, Hotel Blaumar (four star) does not have a drinking fountain/station.
