We went there for a snorkeling excursion. Our guide and boat capital were awesome. Didn't see a much but it was really fun. Seaweed was really bad and made the area smell but that's no fault of theirs. The staff at the resort was very accommodating and kind. Would definitely go back again.

We moved to Blue Kay after a rough experience at Pronoia Casa de Playa, and it completely turned our trip around. The beach here is clean, swimmable, and full of coral and little fish, which made it feel like a hidden gem. It’s right at the start of the malecón, so everything is walkable — super convenient. We stayed in an ocean view suite — the AC worked great, and even though it’s a cabin-style setup, there were no bug issues at all. The staff were kind, attentive, and welcoming, and the whole vibe was family-friendly but still peaceful. The other guests were respectful and cool. The red chilaquiles were delicious, and they had 2-for-1 drink specials that were hard to beat. Their food is solid, though if you’re on a tighter budget, there are slightly cheaper options along the malecón. The pool was clean and refreshing, and although I didn’t get to try the temazcal or ancestral medicine offerings, I loved that those experiences were available. Now the cons: the Wi-Fi simply didn’t work, and it seems like that’s a common issue. If you need reliable internet, you’ll have to head to places like Krazy Lobster nearby. Also, being on the malecón means you can hear everything happening outside, but it didn’t bother us too much — just part of the location. Lastly, cruise tourists flood the town on certain days, which isn’t Blue Kay’s fault, just something to expect in Mahahual. Our car was totally safe the entire time, and overall the energy of the place was relaxed and grounded. If they ever fix the Wi-Fi, this place would honestly be perfect. We’d definitely stay here again.

Was a really nice place to stay at, clean and friendly staff. But they should start to prioritize their beach. It is a lot of trash on it. An improvement could be: more trashbins, and more signs for people to realize that they should throw it in the bin.... Also, the restaurant is using a crazy amount of single use plastics, which could also be improved.
