Nothing like a 4 star hotel. Upon check in, the room wasn’t ready for another hour and a half although we arrived on the proper check in time. Finally, once we have gotten our room we booked, problems only kept coming up. For starters the room was freezing, AC was at its lowest and strongest and was probably left on since the week before. Secondly, the best were also nothing like what we’ve asked for so we needed to get that clarified. Heavily limited amenities in the room for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was the worst, I travel a lot, always open to explore and try new cuisines and new food, but as a foreigner and after a long day of travel , the restaurant, along with the breakfast, had nothing to eat. Very limited menu and an almost non existent selection of drinks, just Cola and water. The location tho is obviously great, located right in the heart of the city and within walkable distance to any major tourist attraction in the city. Overall, this is not a 4 star hotel, ridiculously overrated and overpriced for the service you get.

This hotel was very disappointing - no way is it worthy of 4 or 5 stars. For a start it's expensive. The rooms are looking dated and the air-conditioning didn't work. I was there end of July with outside temperatures around 30C and the room was like a sauna. On a couple of days the water ran brown. The central location is very convenient but it's next to an outdoor bar complex that plays live music all night which is actually pretty loud and intrusive if you're room is on the same side of the building (which mine was). The entrance and reception is a bland unwelcoming space. Service was very hit and miss - the staff at breakfast were very nice and mostly helpful but the coffee service was inconsistent; some days they'd serve coffee at my table and other days I had to go and ask. In contrast the staff at reception were generally terrible. Bad attitude and not that helpful. As an example, the day before leaving I attended reception in person to prebook a transfer to the airport and have it charged to my room (as I was not carrying cash). When I checked out the following day I was told the car had not been booked - I was directed to catch a taxi (which I couldn't do as I had no cash). They then suggested charging to my room then giving me the cash to give to the driver. I waited a further 15 minutes then had to ask what was going on only to be told that they'd paid the driver he was waiting for me outside. Since returning home I've discovered I wasn't given a receipt for my stay - I've emailed the hotel to ask for a copy via email. That was over a month ago and I'm yet to get a reply. Loved visiting Ulaanbaatar but would not stay here again.

It probably used to be nice when it opened, but facilities are getting old. Service is messy and not professional for the price you pay. We had several issues like getting a room that someone was already staying in - we opened the door on them. There was no hot water running for most of the stay without warning or compensation. The only good things are the views and location. If it’s your first time visiting Mongolia, I would avoid staying here as it might impact your overall experience negatively.
