The location of the hotel is excellent, and it's close to everything. The views from our room were awesome, especially at sunset! The staff was mostly friendly and helpful. The only problem is that the hotel is dated and needs a renovation desperately. The building also has plumbing issues, at least in our room (#403). The daily rate that I paid didn't match the condition of the building, even for high season. The owners really need to invest in upgrades if they want to charge higher rates. I "might" stay here again.
Staff was good hotel is run down, had a broken glass window in our shower, mirror was falling off the wall. Bathroom floor was flooded due to leaking hose. Pool was dirty. The place needs money put back into it. Booking.com edited the review to only show the good things at first glance.
This is not a 4-star, not even in Brazil, where the standards are lax. They seem to be very focused on security, and everyone in the staff looks and acts accordingly. It's like staying in a hotel ran by TSA as every airport in the US. And the beach right in front (Meireles) is improper for swimming!
