We were on a wine tour in Hungary and stopped by for 2 nights in the Hotel. The check-in was smooth, the room was spacious and had A/C, the bed was comfortable. The tasting and cellar tour both were brilliant (special thanks to Móni and Peti) They ensured that we have an informative and fun experience. The wellness area is also great. As well as the wine! The first night the dinner was adequate but was not extraordinary. We have had some noise complaints because of an ongoing karaoke party, but the employees quickly reacted and resolved the issue. We will definitely return!
Wine and dine place to visit. If you’re a wine lover this is the must. Several tasting options. Devoted staff. Nice ambiance and always interesting people from around the world to meet. Food offer complements the wine. There are more similar cellars around.
We left Budapest in a splendid mood looking forward to our stay at the Bock Hotel. Upon arrival the receptionist kindly greeted us and we checked into our room. The room was nothing special. Big enough for two people, but the furniture and design was that of an average, not a premium hotel. We then went for dinner where things started to be unpleasant. We spent a total of two hours in the restaurant area, waiting for: the menu, the food, the drinks, which was all subpar. This was not a single occurrence but happened on every occasion we visited the restaurant. Even when it was just the two of us in the entire restaurant. The staff was friendly on some occasions but overall did not seem to be able to provide appropriate service. On our second day we went to visit the wellness area which was small, but clean and well maintained. However, the service was once again underwhelming. We asked the staff to please turn the lights on in the sauna and had to go back to the reception (which is inside the restaurant, so standing there in my bathrobe was rather uncomfortable) in our wellness clothes until they helped us out. Even though we were not very happy with the hotel, it was a fun visit, as Villany is a beautiful region, with excellent wines. Although we were not content with the service overall, some staff members were friendly and tried to make up for the lack of professionalism.
