Spent a night there while in transit through Bole Addis Airport. It's an affordable place to spend a night or two while in transit through Addis Ababa. They also serve international food. They have a shuttle to and fro Addis Airport.
When reviewing things in different countries you need to adjust your expectations and reviews accordingly. For example a 4-Star hotel in Dubai on the Palm cannot be directly compared to a 4-Star hotel in downtown Dhaka. So when I say the Ambassador Hotel in Addis does not deserve even one star, that assessment is already adjusted for the level of hotels I have personally experienced in Addis on my visits. It is nothing short of terrible. Do not believe the many glowing reviews here – pay attention and you will find they are local “reviewers” with few if any other reviews. Sift through and you will find the REAL reviews, like mine, that tell the horror story as it is. This is no hotel. It is a kind of dirty squalid apartment with absolutely no service at all. Literally your room will not be cleaned. Ever. In fact it was clear that it had not been cleaned from the person who was there before me. I was greeted with a pillow that had a bright yellow dirty stain on it – facing the door. Given that I had booked this place for 2 weeks through Agoda I knew I would not get my money back so I had to make do. What did I get in this filthy smelly apartment? One roll of toilet-paper and one towel. And that is it. No water bottles. No glass or cup or plate or spoon. No kettle. No tea or coffee. Zero. And the food downstairs in the restaurant is shockingly poor. In fact I landed up eating breakfast next door at the Reliance Hotel – which, by the way, is vastly superior in every way, for almost the same money AND includes a decent breakfast. I went out and bought a kettle and tea and a cup and toilet-paper and some pillows. And then for the next 6 days I never heard or saw a single person come to check if I needed anything or to clean and service the apartment. They literally just took my money and dumped in a room which looks NOTHING like the one’s you see in Agoda or other booking sites. Oh and be sure to bring an eye-mask as your bedroom will be blasted by a bright light from next door – since you must leave the door open as there is no air-conditioning in the small bedroom. You will suffocate quickly with it closed. There are no curtains in the adjoining kitchen, so its full bright-light all night. And the whole property is dilapidated and falling to pieces. The bathroom stinks, as other real reviews point out. Even the water smells. This is a place you should avoid at all costs as there is just WAY better available, very close by, for equal or less money. The Ethiopian Authorities need to visit this place and strip it of its rating – it is no hotel at all. Disgraceful. Unfortunately one cannot post a review without allocating one star at least but be very sure it is not worth even that.
The worst hotel ever night receptionist no respect at all .
