Excellent location, beautiful and clean place. We have stayed in both the lower and currently the upper unit, both lovely and very well appointed. The staff is great, the attention to detail shows that they have pride in their work and want their guest to enjoy their vacation. Look no further!
Awesome place, really loved a week stay here. The villa is right on the beach, where you can swim, SUP, jet ski, snorkel etc. Bruce and Ann (care takers) were gem of a person. You don't have to do anything, just relax and enjoy your day. Housekeeping, laundry, utensils, etc. everything will be taken care of by them. I would visit again for sure.
Very busy beach during the day; noisy bedroom Summary: Consider what is important to you. You should be cautious about renting Bora Bora if you like personal space when sunbathing, are prone to mosquito bites and are impacted by road noise when trying to sleep. This review is negative, because I know the island has places that are far more suitable for me, albeit at a higher cost, so Bora Bora is perhaps what you get at this time of year for the price. Context: We have visited Barbados in early Dec (except pandemic) for the last 15 years and always stay on the west coast. This year we visited in Jan, which is far busier. Location: Bora Bora is right on Paynes Bay, which is a stunning beach but has got busy in recent years. It has always looked appealing, so when it was free for a last minute booking we were pleased. The view from the balcony, straight onto the beach is fantastic before 9:00am and after 5:00pm. The rest of the day, you are completely surrounded by sunbeds and parasols. Larger properties on the beach clearly have an understanding with the local beach bed renters not to setup in front of their properties (all beaches in Barbados are public). Bora Bora and the few smaller properties around it do not. In fact Bora Bora’s owner, I assume, collaborates with them, allowing storage of parasols on the property, so the situation is unlikely to change. Road noise: The bedrooms overlook highway 1. We knew this so asked whether the windows had glass panes rather than traditional slats. The agent, Hammerton Barbados, told us they did. This is not true – some do; some don’t. Sleeping with earplugs in did go some way to help, but I expect some people might not like doing so. Luckily I always carry some in my travel bag. Mosquitos: I have an allergic reaction to mosquito bites and over the years have honed a routine which results in almost none getting to me. This includes ensuring a mosquito free bedroom by spraying it each night, using plugins and keeping the door closed. This is the second reason for asking about the glass window panes. Luckily the slatted windows did have mesh over them, but it was badly fitted and both myself and my wife were bitten whilst asleep. Neither of us have been bitten so many times since we perfected our routine over a decade ago. There were a lot of mosquitos around, maybe due to the water run off down the side of the property, resulting in standing water and lots of mosquitos, so if you are prone to bites, you need to take precautions. The property condition: Nicely furnished, with a well equipped kitchen but very tired and in serious need of renovation, resulting in a dirty appearance. This is absolutely NOT the case as Ann, the housekeeper, keeps it spotless, although areas outside of her control, such as the window slats are dirty.
