I am from the United States (Nebraska) and my family and I stayed at San Valentino Residence in Umbria and we really loved it. From the very first moment, Giuseppe welcomed us kindly and made us feel right at home. The view is truly beautiful. Every morning we woke up to green hills in front of our eyes, like a dream. Breakfast was delicious: fresh croissants, fruit, and coffee that helped us start the day in the best way. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the peaceful view. It was something special to sleep in a real medieval town. The stone streets, the old houses, and the sound of church bells created a unique atmosphere. At night, the sky was full of stars. The residence also hosts weddings. I told Giuseppe that if I get married one day, I would love to do it right there. It’s a perfect place for a special moment. This place is not just beautiful: it’s peaceful, welcoming, and full of simple emotions. If you’re looking for a place to relax and feel good, come to San Valentino. We will always carry this experience in our hearts.
We stayed in the superior 2 bed flat with balcony - definitely best bit, the views from the balcony with breathtaking. Small table and 2 comfortable deckchairs were well used. However, we were staying in August so very hot. We chose this flat as it stated air con - this turned out to be a portable unit so we had to choose between running the unit and therefore keeping a window open (big white expandable vent to hang out window from unit) and so be exposed to mosquitoes (plenty of them!). The unit wasnt v effective anyway so flat remained v hot especially at night. But nevertheless the flat feels like staying on film set, it is so beautiful and although v steep with lots of stairs to access it, every time doesn't feel real . The staff are very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast served every morning is plentiful and tasty - lots of cakes, parries, fruit etc but also v tasty scrambled eggs and bacon. The pool is wonderful- good size, perfect temp in Aug, plenty of chairs/beds plus toilets etc however it's only accessible by car from Borgo San Valentino - v short 2 min drive but roads so steep etc that you wouldn't walk esp in Aug heat.
This is a really nice place! It is like a little medieval city, and every apartment is in its own little nook. The Osteria at the base of the hill has good food, too. The breakfast, however, was brought to our rooms and it was a bit disappointing not being able to have cappuccinos in the morning. The views are incredible though! The people were also very nice but spoke really quickly which made it difficult sometimes for my non-native ears. All in all, it was a lovely stay!
