We’ll never forget our stay at Borgo - it was truly magical. Of our 3 stops in Italy on our honeymoon this was by far our favorite. The hotel has a warm, intimate feel, the grounds are immaculate, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are gorgeous and the pool is stunning - perfect for relaxation. Both restaurants have a lovely atmosphere and delicious, fresh food. The activities were a delight - we did the Sunday night garden dinner on the farm, cooking class, and a hike followed by a refreshing dip in the nearby river. We also played tennis one morning. Again, the staff really made our trip special (excuse spelling errors) - Mattia, Simone, and Alice who helped us check in, Renato from the pool, Julian and Jorge from the Trattoria, Erica from the concierge who led our hike - and many others - everyone at Borgo really made our trip so special. We hope to be back soon!!
We’ve been really looking forward to our stay at Borgo Santo Pietro, especially since the hotel restaurant, Trattoria Su’llalbero, is our favorite restaurant in Tuscany and one we constantly come back to. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed from the hotel itself. Borgo’s grounds are undoubtedly beautiful, probably more than any hotel in Tuscany, and the breakfast and cooking class are some of the best we’ve ever had, but unfortunately that’s where the positives stop. The rooms are missing basic things like blackout shades, which is a very basic thing even in 4 star properties, and the absence of them really degraded the quality of our sleep. Also, the pillows way too soft and are of very poor quality, and the mattress is similarly, not that great. The level of service at the hotel was also not of the highest level. The staff often walk past the guests without smiling or saying hello, and we often found ourself waiting for a long time at breakfast without anyone asking us for our coffee order. Also, the concierge is not very helpful and when we wanted to book the cooking class the lady simply told us it was full without offering any alternatives. Only when we asked about future dates we managed to arrange it. Very unprofessional that they don’t save space for hotel guests at all time. To summarize, if you’re visiting Tuscany you should definitely visit Borgo’s amazing restaurant, Trattoria Su’llalbero, but staying at the actual hotel is not that great and definitely not worth the price.
My stay has taught me to only stick to renowned hotel names like Belmond or Aman. The amenities are very poor. My spa treatment was below expectations. The staff is a little rude at times. They even broke my luggage bag, did not apologize for it, and would not reply to my email when I contacted them to be compensated. Dont waste your money and time.
