Fabio at the front desk was great. Super helpful and a delight to deal with. We absolutely loved our stay at this resort hotel. Pool was great as was breakfast!!
I came here for an extended weekend with my wife and two kids, and we all loved the stay. The location is great, although it can be easy to miss the entrance since the signs isn't very conspicuous. The installations are built around a restored old building mixed with modern architecture, with tasteful and pleasant design. Hanging by the pool was relaxing and provided for a nice time in the Portuguese summer sun. The restaurant was a high point of our stay, with absolutely delicious (and great-looking!) dishes and superb service — the staff is very friendly and thoughtful. The only downside we can think of is the limited shade by the poolside, and the elevator which was painfully slow. Other than that, we have nothing but good things to say about the hotel, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Vila Real.
Overall experience was underwhelming. We were looking for a nice hotel in several areas and we decided for this one. Room was alright but a bit small, barely any space to walk around the bed. There was no outlets to charge phones so we had to disconnect side lamps. TV had the quality of 1995, with heavy grain in the image. The spa has hammam bath, turkish bath and a low temperature pool with 2 jets. All of the them are considerably small, each one acceptable for maximum 2 couples at a time. Reception was a little strange in both situations, check-in feeling very fake following premade script. Check-out had a very cold treatment. And finally we were surprised that arriving at breakfast there was a big table with several people making a lot of noise (this is a spa hotel after all), the noise continued as we were having breakfast. After a while the people stop the noise, gone to the food table take some food, coffee machine, etc, but entered the non accessible rooms. They were the staff of the hotel. All in all, no reason to return.
