Everything . Location is just perfect, quiet and remote in Borrowdale valley , the building is beautiful and the room (no 19) was an amazing size and perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The view from our room was to the garden and over the garden there was a field full of sheep which we absolutely loved . Breakfast was great. Parking was always available and the hotel grounds are amazing all round . If you like a quiet hotel deep in nature this is the one for you . Would gladly go again
We just left Borrowdale Gate after two nights. The room was good sized, nicely appointed and clean. The bed was very firm but the food was over the top great! The beef filet was soft as warm butter and as rich. The pork tenderloin was every bit as good and the dessert-Sticky Toffee Pudding- almost convinced us to skip our next leg on the trip to order it again. The meals were truly world class
This is a gorgeous hotel. The location is amazing. The views are amazing. The rooms are comfortable. The front of house staff are very friendly and efficient and the food is 5 star. The reason I have given it 4 stars is the housekeeping is absolutely woeful. 3 out of 5 days we returned to the room at 4pm and it hadn’t been made. We had to ask three days in a row for the room to be serviced. At the prices charged this should not be the case. When it was serviced it was to a very low standard. The bed was made but that is about it. Absolutely nothing was cleaned. The house keeping really let the place down and made our stay much less pleasurable than it ought to have been.
