This hotel is great for people who seek adventure and just love tropical relaxing! The staff is amazing! The location is beautiful, although the roads to Puerto Himminez may be a bit Rocky. The airport is really close though! The resort has a wraparound pool and beautiful scenery. They offer tons of activities for the whole family. However there may be brief ten second power outages every few weeks due to them relying on their on power in the region.
Great hotel at a great location. The extra 40 min flight from San Jose is worth the time and price. Suites are large, full kitchen, two full bathrooms and balcony. Kept very clean throughout our 6 day stay. Grounds are kept well without disturbing the natural habitat. Pool and pool bar are nice. Restaurants are good, not great. Same menus every day. Ok for 1 or 2 days, afterwards, I would like to see more variety. A bit of a mix up with our key cards that kept deactivating, however, front desk staff were attentive in fixing the issue. Overall, would definitely at Botanika again. The resort is more of a "mini" resort and for me and my family, it was the perfect size. Added bonus which could add an additional ⭐, the excursions are on site so no driving to different locations, simply get out of bed and walk to the Crocodile Bay tour desk. They were 5 ⭐, which will add in a separate review.
My family was really excited for this stay, Costa Rica is a favorite location of ours having visited several times all over the country. In the end, however, this was a place that did not meet our expectations. Pros: lovely grounds, great pool, friendly staff. Cons: Unless you are planning a bunch of tours (which are outrageously expensive) there isn’t a lot going on. The food is expensive and one meal in particular goes down as my top 5 worst. The temperature in our room was difficult to adjust and maintain, often leaving us a little warmer than we would like. First world problems for sure, but given the status of this hotel it feels like something we were paying for. Ultimately, we decided to opt for an early check-out and were not asked for feedback as to why. Of course, this was our choice, but it did leave us scrambling to figure out transportation as this is not an easy place to access.
