We stayed there for a weekend retreat as part of a large group and enjoyed our stay and the use of the facilities. Even with so many guests, about 70-80 of us plus other hotel guests, the staff were able to manage the checking in process, breakfast, dinner and the small bits in between with ease. The food was very good (I had the hake and pig cheeks) and very tasty. Staff were always around if we needed something or had a question. The room we stayed in was nicely decorated and clean, we didn’t hear any noise from outside or from the other rooms. It’s an old building but nicely maintained. The heated pool, steam room and sauna were nice to dip into before dinner. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and enthusiastic which made a big difference in our experience. We would love to visit again! Update: Also worth mentioning that we had the Sunday carvery which was excellent with perfectly roasted meat, cooked vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, parsnips, sauces and gravy.

Booked a weekend away with 2 mates, we all had a single room each. Went to see Beaulieu. (Sperate review) Hotel generally - Was clean and fairly well maintained, it is obvious they are working on improving the outside and they seem to be doing well, the gardens are amazing and a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink and the lovely weather if you get it. The inside was spotless and a pleasure to be in. Plenty of parking. Staff - The staff were amazing, happy, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they knew there stuff about the area and were always available to help. Rooms - We had single rooms, but you had everything you needed, they were spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable, plenty of pillows and a fan, Bathroom was small but again had everything we needed. Restaurant - We had breakfast and evening meals here, the food quality for both was excellent, good sausages and thick bacon for breakfast, a huge selection and cooked beautifully. The evening meal menu had a fair selection and again the quality of the food was fantastic, well cooked and good portions, my only small criticism was it would of been nice to have a steak knife, but that is minor. Spa - The pool was lovely and warm, although the Hot tub was a little cold for me, however the sauna and steam room were excellent. We visited twice and had a lovely time, didn't use the Gym, but it looked very well appointed. Overall we had a fantastic time, we were made to feel very welcome and it felt very homely, we will be going back. Thank you.

Big hotel with lots of potential. Good location and friendly service, but rooms are a mixed bag. I stayed in a twin, which was fairly large, but the bathroom smelt of damp. We had booked 2 twins for 4 of us. They did try telling us that we had booked a twin and a double, and that if we wanted an extra room that it would be £175 foe the night (this is at 10pm), however once we checked the confirmation email we saw that we did book 2 twins and they relented and gave us a twim, double and suite. The restaurant had just finished serving food by the time we got there, but they were good with us ordering a takeaway and eating it in the bar. Would probably come here again, despite the smell in one room and mix up with the other.
