Boutique Hotel La Roche

We stayed 5 nights at Hotel La Roche and it was genuinely one of the best trips of my life. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional — every single staff member we interacted with was warm and went above and beyond. I’ve never experienced hospitality like it, and the people truly made this trip so special. Our room was beautiful: huge, and spotlessly maintained. The beach area was a dream — well-kept, and with the same impeccable service from the bar and wait staff. Special mention to the gorgeous Espresso Martinis! Breakfast was another highlight, everything was cooked fresh. The lunch menu was also excellent — we especially loved the shrimp Caesar and Thai steak salads. Montenegro itself completely stole our hearts. Tivat and the surrounding area were stunningly clean and easy to explore. We didn’t want to leave. Hotel La Roche gave us memories we’ll treasure for life — can’t wait to come back.

Stayed for 1 night off season in February. Great location, short walk to marina, bars and restaurants. Friendly welcome on check-in. Room we were given first (103), was a good size and had lovely views, however there was a horrible smell of sewerage throughout. Stain on ceiling near air conditioning unit which looked like there had been a leak in the past. Asked in reception to move as we couldn’t deal with the smell and was given a 2 bedroom apartment (101). This room was great, and smelt fine. Very comfortable stay and lovely breakfast. Didn’t use spa. Pool was closed but wouldn’t have been able to use it due to season and weather but looked like it would be lovely in summer.

The location of La Roche Hotel is simply stunning. Overlooking the bay and just minutes from Port Montenegro, it’s perfectly situated for those looking to enjoy shopping, great restaurants, and beautiful scenery. At first glance, the hotel appears to be a high-end boutique stay, but unfortunately, it quickly becomes apparent that it’s not being maintained to the standard its price tag suggests. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite costing £600 per night, so naturally, we expected 5-star quality across the board. The outdoor beach/bar area is well-placed and has so much potential, but the decking is worn and in need of replacement. The changing rooms were all locked, and the bar was closed, which was disappointing given the warm weather and the setting. Upstairs, the rooftop pool offers absolutely stunning views, a real highlight but again, the surrounding decking is damaged, with some parts even falling apart. The rooftop bar was also closed, which added to the feeling that the hotel has been left to decline. Inside our suite, the layout and space should have been impressive, but there were several maintenance issues. Light switches were either damaged or had fallen loose, and there was visible mould behind areas of the wallpaper – a serious concern for longer stays. We didn’t raise a complaint, as we were only staying for one night, but had it been a longer visit, we absolutely would have. It’s a real shame because the this hotel could be excellent. It just needs proper care, maintenance, and attention to detail to justify its luxury price tag. With some investment and upkeep, La Roche could be a truly outstanding hotel. For now, it falls short of expectations.
