An absolute special find! The hotel has recently been renovated to a 4 star design boutique hotel, family run with impeccable service! Don’t trust some of the strange pictures on TripAdvisor. The view from your balcony / terrace (if you have the suite upgrade as we did) has the most spectacular view of the mountains and undisturbed nature that takes your breath away. We were travelling with Black Forest skis for the Ski and Show Ski event at Pitztal Glacier, which was less than a 5 minutes drive to the lifts for skiing in Oct! The hotel also has a ski lift 3 mins walk away during the peak ski season. The restaurant is out of this world, from full “anything you like” breakfast to dinner, the staff are very friendly accommodate any dietary requirements and dressed in traditional Austrian costume. The cuisine for dinner consisted of several choices of dishes from vegetarian, meat or fish and a 5 course meal. I highly recommend to visit the restaurant for dinner if you are not staying at the hotel. But make sure to book as even throughout the week it was full every night. Family friendly with a kids playground on the grounds and kids meals. Skier friendly they are more than happy to help with equipment and show you how to get Ski passes and your way to the slopes. The Apres Ski culture in the town is also very nice with plenty of bars and clubs and not to forget to mention, Dominic at the hotel who mixes the best Gin and Tonic and Rum cocktails! The hotel is linked to its 5 star sister hotel by an underground passage (walking around in dressing gowns/ bathrobes is encouraged). The hotel has a very nice beautifully designed spa with sauna and steam, but guests for an additional 20 Euro can have a day pass to the sister hotels very large modern spa with multiple types of crystal steam and saunas and indoor/ outdoor heated infinity pool. The spa is also really worth a visit if you are not staying at the hotel. The masseuses are also very good and reasonably priced but need to be booked far in advance as after the slopes everyone is keen on a treatment. The rooms are exceptional, very clean with Nespresso coffee machines, the design is very nice to the photography on the walls, the lighting different in every corner. We had a 2 bedroom suite with steam shower, big terrace with view of the iconic mountain, design fireplace (not for live use but just for show), beautiful bath tub and most importantly silence for a good nights sleep. The rooms have been designed by the family who owns the hotel beautifully. A good recommendation is also to book “the hut” for dinner (we were recommended this for a birthday celebration dinner which fell during the time of our stay). A small hut seating around 8-10 people. A truly unique experience. Open BBQ with steel “couldron style” bowls, designer birch beer glasses, great bbq steaks, pork ribs and plenty of appetisers. The hut is located in the garden of the restaurant, cosy with blankets and a round table around the open bbq. Beautifully designed and a great experience for 2 or a group. Very impressive place not to be missed!
It's an excellent hotel, the best place to relax. All the staff is extremly kind and helpfull. I can just wish this hotel for everyone!
All in all a four out of five. Why? The food, especially breakfast was amazing: A lot of effort and personal touch in every meal and the breakfast buffet really is 5 star with nice dark cutlery, beautiful plates and really responsive staff. The not so great - there is a coffee machine in the room without any complementary pods (frustrating when you get up at 4:30 and have Vorfreude of some caffeine), the shower flowed over until I unclogged it myself (had to McGyver a bit to get hair out), the room was large and good all-in-all, but slightly dark and there is no mini-bar (which would have been ok had the coffee machine at least worked). Still very much a wonderful hotel due to the food and very good service.
