Bowline Hotel

Bowline is a great place to stay, especially if you have a river front room. The rooms are comfortable, but in my opinion, the riverside rooms are the 5 star rooms. You aren’t just facing the river, you’re physically over the river. Now with that means you’ll get the creaks of the moving piling, the barks of an occasional seal and noise from passing ships. With that said, those noise are actually a positive and add to the ambience. The Knot restaurant is more of a bar with excellent bar food. They have a delicious salmon chowder.

Let me start off by saying I hate hotels and germs and the thought of who may stay there first!!!! But this place was like home , spotless , modern , unique stunning views from the room to the bathroom to the views outside of the bridges and water and hearing the sea lions barking all night is worth every penny spent here and would do it over and over , so clean and that means EVERYTHING to someone like me !!!!! Kudos to doing it actually right , to my own fault and running out of time, I only regret not getting to use the adorable saunas with a view!!!!! I can’t say enough good!!!! You may even get lucky and see a sea lion snuggled right here 🫶🏽such a unique and wonderful experience especially when you’re from Indiana !!!!!!! My heart is full thank you so much

We've stayed at the Bowline twice now, and each visit has been an absolute pleasure. We always opt for the riverfront rooms—it's hard to imagine the trolley-view rooms being worth the price when you can wake up to stunning waterfront views instead. In our opinion, this is the best hotel in town, thanks to its unbeatable walkability—you're just minutes from all the shops and restaurants in downtown Astoria. The rooms feel spacious, with tall ceilings that add to the airy ambiance. Each room comes equipped with a mini fridge (including a generously sized freezer) and a coffee bar—though we wish they'd provide more coffee to last the full length of our stay. A microwave is conveniently located next to the ice machine near the lobby, which we loved using to reheat our Fort George pizza slices. One of the standout features of the stay is the in-room soaking tub. Unlike the other hotel in town that offers soaking tubs, Bowline's placement allows for easy TV viewing from the tub—perfect for a relaxing evening. There are also two barrel saunas right on the river for another way to unwind. The bar serves excellent cocktails, though the prices are definitely on the higher side. If you're visiting, be sure to bring binoculars to watch the passing ships. We love checking the schedule on the bar pilots' website and identifying the vessels as they go. The entire experience is peaceful and rejuvenating—we can't wait for our next stay!
