Buckingham Place

We had a truly wonderful experience at Buckingham Place in Tangalle. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect , the beautiful lagoon kayaking & bird watching, the secluded beach, the inviting pool, and the peaceful surroundings made it a relaxing and unforgettable escape. 🌊💆🏻‍♀️❤️ The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a warm smile. A special mention goes to Arshad, one of the best people at the hotel ,always helpful, professional, and genuinely kind. Piyumi was also so lovely and supportive; she ensured we had everything we needed without delay. 🫂❤️ Our room was spacious, very clean, and beautifully maintained, with a calm and cozy atmosphere. The morning and evening views from the room were absolutely stunning ,just wow! 😍🫶🏻 The food was absolutely delicious, every single meal was a treat. 😋 If you're looking for a place to relax, unwind, and be treated like family, we highly recommend Buckingham Place. We loved every moment and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! ❤️

We have just had the most fantastic 3 nights here and highly recommend. The service is exemplary, the food outstanding and the location glorious. It’s bold and joyous and full of life, but super relaxed at the same time, and you just can’t help but feel happy here - a brilliant exercise in the psychology of colour. There are only 16 rooms so the service is really personal (they seem to know what you need before you have even thought of it!) and there are so many thoughtful details. The hotel is just down a few steps to Rekawa beach which is vast and unsullied by tourism. The few hotels and a couple of beach bars are tucked behind bushes and virtually invisible from the beach. The waves are really powerful - too powerful to swim but the sound of them crashing onto the beach carries up to the pool - deeply relaxing and great for the soul. Rekawa is a turtle beach so there is the added bonus of late night walks to watch the turtles laying their eggs. This is a really special place created by a lovely man called Nick Buckingham (hence the hotel name) who is full of wonderful stories. We very much hope to return.

Beautiful setting with very kind and attentive staff. The food was very good. We occasionally wished for more Sri Lankan options on the menu, as there were mostly Western choices, but the staff made an effort to accommodate us, and we are grateful for that. The owner was equally attentive to his guests, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's unfortunate that we couldn't access the beach after 7pm.
